Hello fellow gardening enthusiasts 🌱🥒🍓😋
Thank you all SO much for the support in our lil farm stand. We are SO grateful and excited knowing all these food plants, flowers and herbs have made it out into the community.
Our stand will only be open until June. 11 th. 💕 So if you have any space in your garden still come stock up.
We are located in Yellow Point. 3920 Yellow Point Rd. The stand is located just off of Yellow Point Rd across from Barney Rd. Open 10am -7 pm. We will be open 7 days a week until June.11 th with TOMATOES 🍅 are in 4 inch pots, hardened off and are $5. We have : Black Cherry, Yellow Pear, Gardeners Delight, Purple Bumblebee, Pink Bumblebee, Black Krim and Amish Paste. 🍅 I put out there mother flats: Fall Lancia Leeks, Bandit winter leeks and Calibra storage Onions. There’s still time to get them in. Just need to be pricked out into the garden. There’s LOTS in a flat for $6. I don’t have time for potting them up, but they’re ready! We will have 6 packs for $5 of fully hardened off and ready to plant: Paris Island Romaine and Tamarindo lettuce. In 4 inch pots for $5: Genovese Basil, Eggplant, Cayenne Peppers, Jalapeños, Red Bulls Horn Sweet Peppers and Tree onions $6. In 2.5 inch pots for $4: Sunflowers:Autumn Beauty, Sungold.. Butternut Squash, Sugar Pie Pumpkin, Spaghetti Squash,Delicata Squash, and Red Spear Sprouting Broccoli. CUCUMBERS 🥒: Lemon Cucumbers, and Early Fortune Pickling. Strawberries bare root 10 for $10. We also have Josta Berries in 3 gallon pots for $15.Its pay at the stand honour system or E transfer.

We will be open 7 days a week until the plant have found homes:) We will have 6 packs for $5 of fully hardened off and ready to plant: Chamomile, Nasturtiums, Phacelia Bee friend, Bachelor’s Buttons,Sweet peas Royal Family, Cascadia Sugar Snap Peas, Bloomsdale Spinach, Paris Island Romaine Lettuce and Early Wonder Beets. We have Chives and Tree Onions in 8 inch pots for $6. We also have Josta Berries, Tay berries and Black Currents in 3 gallon pots for $15. Its pay at the stand honour system or E transfer.

Deep Roots Farm is so excited to be growing organic plant starts again this year for the farm and community 🫶🌱 We will have a small selection going out next weekend ( April. 13/14 th) onto our farm stand here in Yellow Point. 3920 Yellow Point Rd. The farm stand is located on Yellow Point Rd across from Barney Rd. We will have 6 packs for $5 of fully hardened off and ready to plant: Chamomile, Nasturtiums, Phacelia Bee friend, Bachelor’s Buttons,Sweet peas Royal Family, Cascadia Sugar Snap Peas, Bloomsdale Spinach, Paris Island Romaine Lettuce and Early Wonder Beets. I am SO grateful to be sowing seeds again this spring 🌱 To be part of keeping their genetics alive, these little time capsules of generations of farmers, seed savers and gardeners. Thank you SO much to all the farmers in our community for working so hard at keeping our local food systems abundant. We appreciate you! Thank you to all the farmers near and far who work hard at creating resilient, sustainable food systems. 🫛 Thank you thank you thank you 💕 I’m SO grateful for the food I get to eat everyday. Not a day goes by that I don’t acknowledge this privilege. I’m stoked for another growing season 🥗 Happy spring y’all 😘 👩‍🌾

Gearing up with a fresh start to the 2024 growing season 🌱🌷🥦🥕 Got the seeding greenhouse all cleaned out and ready for action ✨ will have a diverse selection of veggie, flower and herb starts available April- end of June for the community♥️ Loving watching the garlic get growing too! Bout 1,200 🧄 bulbs in this year 🥰

Hi there 🌱🌷
I’m curious what other homesteaders are using for compost bins/ piles these days?
I had a three bin system , 4 feet wide bins.
We built them in 2017 and didn’t concrete the driftwood posts we used, plus I never rat proofed it 🤪
This system worked for the most part till last year. Posts have rotted out. Plus I’ve had rat problems in my seeding greenhouse which is behind bins and I want to rat proof the new bins.
The area is 5x15 for new bins and I have a garden area of 700 square feet that produces compostable materials for these bins.
I’m thinking three bin system again with concreted posts and rat proof sized wire. But then would need to have lids? Doors?
So I’m reaching out for suggestions 👩‍🌾

I’m always presently surprised at what herbs find me. This year mullein has. This is a beautiful herb plant I’ve used for years and has always volunteered around our farm 🌱 This year there was quite a few, so I re researched it. I was very excited to come across new info to me about this herb that I’d love to share 💕
Verbascum thapsus also known as the candle 🕯️ wick plant, witches torch, witches candles has been used as a carrier of fire 🔥 The plants beautiful seed head is harvested and used as the candle wick. Leaving the stem long so you can use them as a free standing torch ( safely of course) SO cool! They used lard originally to cover the seed head wick but now wax is used. We used local bees wax sheets and decided on Cedar, Roman Chamomile , Lavender and Rose as our botanicals 🙂 Twas beautiful to play with the bees wax, botanicals and the Mullein in a new way. Can’t wait to light one up 🔥

Every year for many years now as an Autumn ritual I make fire cider. Using as many ingredients as we can from our farm and as 🔥🥰 locally as possible.
It’s immune boosting, supports digestion, energy giving, circulation stimulating, respiratory clearing, anti-inflammatory and a good ol anti-oxidant tonic 🧡 This year my friend Kim Lavender Kitchen even made her own apple cider vinegar for us all to use🧡 Ingredients used this year: home made apple cider vinegar, onions, garlic, cayenne, jalapeños, rosemary, thyme, sage, rose hips, cloves, black peppercorns, local cranberries , lemons, ginger and tumeric. 🔥
I take it warmed diluted with hot water, a shot on its own if I’m feeling I need it or if I need a zing 😝
It’s beautiful easy to make medicine for heading into winter ♥️♥️

Seeds that are collected from your local growing region are more adapted to our climate. They are stronger, very abundant and more resistant.
