Winter is here, and with it comes potential hazards for your dog that you may not be thinking about. Here are some practical winter tips to keep your dog warm, safe and healthy this winter season!
❄️ Paw protection: Salt and ice can irritate your dog's paws. After walks, wipe them down with a damp cloth.
❄️ Adjust meals for energy needs: Cold weather may increase your dog's energy needs. Raw food with a variety of proteins and healthy fats helps keep them warm, active and can help boost their immune system.
❄️ Layer up: Some dogs need extra warmth in winter. Consider a cozy dog sweater or jacket for smaller dogs or short-haired breeds.
❄️ Limit outdoor time: If your dog loves winter walks but is particularly sensitive to the cold, keep the walks short but more often to avoid overexposure. And also - Just like in summer, cold weather can be dangerous in a car. Don’t leave your dog unattended for lengthy periods of time.
❄️ Watch out for hypothermia: If your dog’s shivering or seems lethargic, bring them inside to warm up.
Wishing you and your pup a fun and playful winter season that is full of adventure!
