ADOPTION UPDATE: Oreo (now Purrnando)
"Purrnando has been with me about a year and a half. When I first brought him home, I jokingly called him Copy Cat because he seemed reliant on my older cat, Kitten Pants, to let him know appropriate behaviour. Most of his favourite napping spots have been purloined from Kitten Pants and my dog, Leo. In the last 6 months, he's started stepping out as his own little dude and testing out a personality all of his own! He doesn't speak (express his wants) any cat dialect I'm familiar with so he and I have had to figure out our own language. One of my favourites is when he wants me to pick him up, he goes to the laundry area, sits in a particular corner, and waits for me to notice him and pick him up. He loves talking (loudly and incessantly) throughout the day. When I first got him, I was trying so hard to figure out what he was telling me, checking water, food, litter, toys... Turns out, there is no reason I can discern. He just likes chatting. Sometimes we converse and sometimes I just let him sing the song of his people. His favourite activities include racing around at breakneck speed and flinging his body up his 7ft tall cat tree, pausing to survey his kingdom, then hurtling off and continuing zoomies; and catching any bug that dares enter his home (or comes near a window and then all I hear is a window being smacked because a bug is outside). The best hunt I've seen was a fly zipping in when I came home one day, and Purrnando leapt 4ft in the air and pinned it to a window sill within 4secs. This not-so-little man has a larger-than-life personality and oozes ridiculous amounts of confidence. He regularly flops on the floor, belly exposed, and it's everyone and everything else's (namely my robot vacuum, Ferdinand) job to avoid him. Ferdinand can get right up to his belly and Purrnando looks down his nose and waits for Ferdinand to realize its mistake. I am currently working on building his tolerance for nail clipping (so snuggles are less painful for me when he kneads) and brushing (to help him do less work grooming and with his shedding). He's a super sweet boy (and hilarious goober) and has settled in really well!"

Image 1 commentary: "He precariously perches on my chest while I do homework because I can ignore him if he sits in my lap. He will also gently bite or paw anything in my hands that may prevent me from giving him my full attention because he deserves nothing less."
