Another downtown store has faced our nightmare, I am so sorry this has happened to them. I encourage my followers and supporters to visit this store and help increase their foot traffic to prevent anything from happening again.

We were broken into last night and our cash register was stolen.

But I am thankful for the community that support us. Thank you to our upstairs neighbour for calling the cops when our alarm went off, and sorry for waking you up with loud noises!

Thank you to the constables that came quickly and stayed here until we could arrive, and then ones that came back in the morning to follow up.

Thank you to our neighbours for sharing their security camera footage.

Thank you to our landlady, Monica for being supportive and helpful on her day off!

Thank you to my amazing husband for being here and fixing the broken door.

But most of all, thank you to ALL of you for supporting our small store. Without our community we wouldn’t be where we are and would be able to keep on thriving.

This could have been a lot worse, and I know we got off with minor damage compared to other downtown businesses. And for that I am grateful.

Keep on supporting your local small businesses. Every visit, no matter how small, has a huge impact on us.

Less than 1 hour left in 2024 and, as many of you may have heard of my recent, untimely and especially heartbreaking smash and grab at my pet food store Carnivore Kingdom that I opened just 26 days before in beautiful downtown Nanaimo; I wanted to take a moment to share the positivity I still find in my heart for this city and the people who are Nanaimo.

A huge thank you to Jason Corbeil of Jason's Computer Services of his extremely generous donation of a computer to replace my old system, he went above and beyond to even take my old system and ensure all the data and everything was switched over so that it was as if nothing had impeded my work.

Another huge thank you with all my heart to the 35 donators on my GoFundMe who are contributing to helping me replace the rest of the equipment and take better security measures to prevent this from happening again in the future. I was having a hard time deciding how I was going to prioritize choosing security over function but Jason made it possible for me to focus on security.

Thank you, thank you to all the people who have stopped by and shown support through stories, words of wisdom, purchases, talking about me and my story and giving me strength to move forwards.

It means so much to me to be able to be part of this city and its people. I look forward to being able to participate in all the wonderful downtown events in 2025, and seeing all the new (and familiar) wonderful faces that made the ending of 2024 a battle worth fighting for.

With love from my family to yours, let’s all make 2025 our best year yet.
