We're here to help keep your pets healthy and happy!

Wow, Who turned up the heat? 🥵
With the hot temperatures we are experiencing over the last couple of days it's important to remember our furry family members. Our local OSPCA has shared some important information to consider.
Stay cool everyone! 🐾
We have been experiencing some hot days, so we wanted to share some summer safety tips!
Never leave pets in hot cars - Even a short time, with the car parked in the shade and the windows down, can be dangerous. Temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly, putting your pet at risk of heatstroke or even death.
Know your dog - Certain types of dogs, such as Northern breeds or short-muzzled dogs can have a more difficult time in the heat. Dogs that are older, overweight, taking certain medications are also at greater risk.
Protecting pads - If the pavement is too hot for your feet, it's too hot for your dog's paws. Watch for signs of burnt pads and limit outdoor time in high temperatures.
Water and cool shade - Always provide fresh water and seek out cool, shaded areas for outdoor activities to prevent heatstroke.
Know who to call - To report an animal left unattended in a vehicle, call Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9Animal, or your local police. If you see an animal in immediate danger, call 911.
Don’t be afraid to go out and enjoy the weather with your furry companions! Just keep these tips in mind when you do enjoy the summer weather. Check out our blog for more summer pet safety tips: https://bit.ly/3X9Rkvl

In May, our amazing team tested 47 adorable canine patients and found out that unfortunately, 19% of these dogs tested positive for either Lyme or Anaplasmosis, both tick-borne diseases. If your dog is suddenly tired, favoring a leg, losing their appetite or you notice they have swollen joints or fever, you should have them tested for the presence of Lyme Disease.
Dolly is mighty cute! She was such a little rock star at her first vet visit!

Liv enjoyed her visit to our clinic the other day, especially because her new carrier made it much easier to help her in and out of the kennel. These newer designs can help lower the drama at both ends of the visit, making it calmer and less stressful event for you and your pet. Here we see her getting out of her kennel. And the post below this will show how she gets back in.

Happy World Veterinary Day! On this special day we celebrate many dedicated veterinarians, that we have had the privilege to work beside. We are especially celebrating our veterinarians Dr. Leckie and Dr. Osborn here at Napanee Veterinary Hospital. We celebrate the care and compassion that they give to every patient that walks through our hospital doors. We acknowledge the difficult conversations they often, have to have with a pet owner. We acknowledge all the work they do to make sure their records are up to date so they can give their best self to the next patient in the morning. We commend them for always having their patients best interest at heart. We thank them for sharing their love of animals with all of us; and for being compassionate veterinary professionals even during the most difficult days. Thankyou ❤️ 🐾 #worldveterinaryday2022 #petspeoplepractice #veterinarymedicine
