Even though the weather may be cooling down, tick season is far from over! Ticks are still active and can transmit diseases like Lyme disease, which is why regular testing and prevention are crucial for your pets. 💉

👉 We recently had a Lyme-positive result from a 4Dx Snap test (as pictured), and it serves as a reminder that ticks are a year-round threat. Early detection is key to effective treatment, so if your pet spends time outdoors, make sure they’re protected with the right tick prevention.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who have served to protect our freedom. On this Remembrance Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the brave men, women, and service animals who have stood alongside them throughout history.

Service animals, from military working dogs to therapy animals, have played a vital role in supporting and protecting those in uniform. Their loyalty, courage, and companionship have brought comfort to many during difficult times.

As we wear our poppies and take a moment of silence, let us remember all those who have given so much in the name of peace. We are forever grateful for their sacrifices and dedication.

🐾 Continuing National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week with a special story!

Cora is the beloved companion of our very own RVT, Jocelyn, and she has an incredible journey. Cora came all the way from Mexico, rescued through the DogGo Project, which partnered with Bark at the Moon Rescue in London, ON, to help her find a better life here in Canada. 🇲🇽➡️🇨🇦

When Cora was found, she had likely been used for breeding and her life hadn’t been easy. But thanks to the dedication of rescue teams and her foster family in Toronto, she was ready for a fresh start. Jocelyn brought her home in January 2022, and Cora has been thriving ever since! She was estimated to be around 4 years old at the time, which makes her about 7 now—full of love, loyalty, and a resilient spirit. 🐶💛

Cora’s story is a reminder of the incredible work that animal shelters and rescues do each day, giving pets a second chance at life. We are so grateful for the teams and foster families who make this possible! Cora’s journey from Mexico to her forever home is just one example of the countless lives changed by rescue efforts.

Thank you, DogGo Project and Bark at the Moon Rescue, for making happy endings like Cora’s possible! 💙

🐾 Happy National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week! 🐾

This week, as we recognize the amazing work of shelters and rescues, we're also celebrating Senior Pet Month with a special shoutout to Betsey! 💙

Betsey was adopted from the Lennox & Addington OSPCA as a young pup by one of our team members, and she’s grown up to be a beloved senior companion. Over the years, she’s brought so much joy and love to her family and our clinic, showing us all the incredible bond that comes from adopting a shelter pet.

Senior pets like Betsey have so much love to give, and adopting a shelter pet means a lifetime of companionship and gratitude. If you’re considering a new furry friend, remember that your local shelters and rescues are full of wonderful pets waiting for their forever homes—young and old alike!

🎃With an evening full of festivities, let's ensure our furry friends stay happy and safe with these pet-friendly Halloween tips! 👻

1. KEEP CANDY OUT OF REACH: Chocolate and certain candies can be toxic to pets. Make sure to store treats securely!
2. COSTUME COMFORT: If you're dressing up your pet, ensure the costume fits well and doesn't restrict their movement. Not all pets enjoy dressing up, so respect their comfort.
3. SAFE SPACE: With doorbells ringing and strangers in costumes, create a calm area for your pet away from the hustle and bustle.
4. IDENTIFICATION: Ensure your pet has proper ID tags and a microchip in case they get spooked and run off.
5. DECOR CAUTION: Avoid decorations that could be choking hazards or cause injury. Keep wires and small items out of reach.
