It's not every day that we get to see a pigeon at our hospital.
But Cocoa was injured by a pellet shot to her wing so her owner brought her in to see us.
An examination and x-rays revealed that the injury had been there for some time. The location of the pellet and the type and age of the fracture meant that the injury was unsuitable for splinting or pinning. The x-rays of the wing clearly show the location of the pellet.
We therefore recommended cage rest and pain management medication to facilitate healing and are wishing Cocoa a speedy recovery.

Exercise for your senior pet can help minimize loss of muscle and strength, decrease weight gain and obesity, and can help with joint pain and stiffness.

The amount of exercise your pet needs depends on how active your pet has been recently and what health issues they may have. If your pet has not been very active, then you can start out slowly with short walks and increase them as they get used to them. One of the most important things is to be consistent!

Is this art imitating life, or life imitating art ?

One of these is a stuffed toy and the other is Caramel, a 13-week-old adorable Bichon puppy who came to see us for a health check and vaccinations. Luckily our vet could tell which one was Caramel. 🤣
