It's Staff Appreciation Week here at Selkirk Veterinary Hospital. 🫶
We received a huge gift basket full of goodies, which was greatly appreciated, because the way to our hearts is very much through our stomachs !

This week recognizes the vital contributions of every single one of our team; from veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, client care and housekeeping staff, who provide essential care for animals and support each other in the process.

We're sure you'll all agree that every single one of the staff deserves some recognition for the work they do. 👏

This beautiful female was found at the Castlegar Airport. She’s been hanging around that area for quite some time. She doesn’t have any permanent ID to find her owner. If she belongs to you, please reach out to the center at 250-509-0297 or send us a Facebook message.

🚨 Continued Learning Alert! 🚨

Our Director of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Christina Meyer, and veterinary technicians, Alex and Crystal, just wrapped up an incredible two-day hands-on course on TPLO—the go-to technique for treating cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) tears in dogs of all sizes!

What’s TPLO you might ask ?
Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is a game-changer for stabilizing the stifle joint, helping pets recover from partial or complete CrCL tears. This course covered everything from theory to technique, with hands-on labs using state-of-the-art equipment.

Highlights of the Course:
-Hands-on practice with cadavers
-Use of cutting-edge locking plate technology for precision and reduced complications
-Post-op radiographs to check repair success and refine technique
-Postoperative care management for better recovery

🧑‍🎓Our team is now even more skilled and ready to give your pets the best care
possible!🐾

Keep an eye out for more updates and insights as we continue to learn and grow!

Maverick is a friendly & independent 3 yr old Chow/Burnese cross - that huggable coat might have given it away.

If you'd like to know more, check out Mav on our adoption page or call us at 250-509-0297 to schedule a meet and greet. You'll fall in love like we did🧡🧡🧡
