This spring the SBRC applied for an infrastructure and equipment grant from HCBC. Our application was successful and we were able to purchase the materials to build 8 new wooden pens . The old rotten pens were dismantled and the new wooden pens project was completed this fall with the help of volunteers including equipment loaned from YRB.

This brings the number of usable pens to 20 which we hope will help accommodate clinics and events in the future .

This project could not have been completed without the generous grant from Horse Council BC

A reminder that the West Kootenay Driving clinic is happening this weekend at the grounds .
If anyone is interested in auditing (free), lessons are 1:00 - 4:00pm Friday, and 9:00am - 4:00pm Saturday & Sunday
Sunday afternoon will have driven dressage and/or a cones obstacle course, which should be fun to watch!

All riders must have their current HCBC , and be a SBRC member or pay drop in fee to the club .

The structure of lessons and training with Danika is helpful for all disciplines as there is a strong focus on horsemanship and how rider position affects the horses way of going.

About Danika -

Danika is a certified Equestrian Canada Competition Coach and has been coaching riders of all ages and skill levels for over 15 years in dressage and low-level hunters.

She grew up as the 3rd generation on her family farm, an English riding school and Sport Horse breeding farm called Centaur Riding School. There she gained experience riding green backed horses up to training PSG with her home-bred mare.
Additionally, she has extensive experience introducing young horses successfully to the show ring.

Danika has competed in dressage at National level for over 15 years with many championships won by both Danika and her students.

Danika has recently moved to the Kootenays bringing with her three of Centaurs homebred warmbloods.

Teaching at an English riding school for over 15years allowed for Danika to learn how to adapt lessons to a variety of horses and rider levels. There she taught lessons on in barn horsemanship, theory, lunge line lessons for all levels (great for position work!), basic flat work, basic ground work, and jumping.
Danika enjoys helping riders and horses understand each other better both on the ground and in the saddle.

There are now QR codes on the club house for both online Memberships and Drop in forms including waivers . A reminder that all riders must submit one of these before riding at the grounds . Payments can be made by e transfer , cash or check sent to the address on the forms.
There is also a drop box at the club house . Please include a note with your name . Reminder you must have current HCBC .

Associate $15 ( for someone who wants to be a member but will not be riding at the grounds. )
Drop in fee for non-members is $10/horse

Spring has arrived at the Sunshine Bay riding grounds! The arena is ready to ride and the beach is getting bigger every day as the water goes down .

Get your memberships in and come out and enjoy the sunshine ! Remember that memberships are still required if parking horse trailers at the grounds to access the beach. 🏖️ 🐎

There are some changes to the way The Sunshine Bay Riding Club will be handling memberships, communications etc.
We have moved everything onto Google Forms. This electronic system will make things easier and more organized for both the volunteers running the club and its members. It's super easy to use.

The SBRC email has changed.
The new email is [email protected]
All e-transfers for memberships and all communications - please use this email.

There is no longer a SBRC website. Facebook will be used instead.

The link for the Google Forms is pinned on the top of the FB page. This will give you the online form to fill out your membership and waiver. Note - It will not let you complete the form until the waiver portion is complete. To do this you can click on the link for your waiver and fill it in electronically, or you can print, fill out, scan and upload file.

To pay your membership fees, you can e-transfer to the new email, send a check to the address provided on the form, or put it in the drop box at the clubhouse.

Please remember to renew your HCBC.

If you are having trouble navigating this new online form, send an email to the new address and we can arrange to help you navigate it with a call or email. If you are unable or unwilling to use the online google forms, there will still be hard copy membership forms and waivers available. Send a message to the new email address requesting an emailed copy of the new membership form and waivers. Note that there was a small increase in membership fees last July.

Please consider renewing your SBRC membership.
$40/Senior, $30/Junior, $50/Family, and $15/Associate.
This gives you access to the Sunshine Bay Riding Grounds and arena, anytime you want. Membership fees are what keeps the grounds open, paying for insurance, hydro and maintenance.
