Please call me at 250 359 7979 and I can get you in touch with the person who is handling the owners affairs.

This is Snoopy. He is in desperate need of a new home to live out his life. It is now thought that he is 15 and I believe he is going a bit deaf. No children and I'm not sure how he is with other dogs. He is great but just can't be startled.

Just putting this out there in case there is someone that can adopt or foster Snoopy. Snoopy is a senior jack Russell cross who's owner has to go into assistance living and can not take her beloved little boy with her. Truely heartbreaking. His age is unknown but probably at least ten years old. I would recommend no children. I have had no issues with him but know not to startle him. He can be reactive if startled and believe he could possibly be a bit deaf. I will post a picture of him later.

We have been experiencing an increase level of leptospirosis infections in our community. This infection is caused by a bacteria that is carried by wildlife. They shed the bacteria into the environment and it can spread to dogs and sometimes humans.
If you are planning on boarding your dog or have an upcoming appointment with your veterinarian talk to your vet about vaccination .
It will be part of the required vaccinations starting January 2024.

Everybody loves a long weekend – including our furry friends! It means more quality time with the people they love. But there are also some safety concerns to keep in mind so your furry friend can be comfortable and safe during the celebrations.

ARE YOU WORTH COMING BACK TO?

There are many reasons why dogs don’t come back when you want them to. A dog’s genetics play a big role in this when an environment is far more stimulating and exciting and listening and coming back to you disappear into the background as genetic instinct takes over.

An exciting scent or seeing something to chase can all override a response to you.

Genetics aside, a common reason why dogs don’t come back when called is because it’s not a positive experience for them.

I often cringe when I watch owners trying to get their dogs to come to them when they call.
They call and call and get increasingly angry and frustrated as their dog keeps ignoring them.

When their dog eventually does come back, or has been chased and "captured” by their owner, they get screamed at, yanked about, smacked or punished in some way for taking so long and not listening. Why would a dog want to return to someone who does this to them!

Make coming back to you worth it by always making it a rewarding experience.

Have a little patience if it takes longer than you would like, let your dog finish what they’re doing before calling them, practice in different locations and environments and never reprimand or punish them for coming back.

There is never a guarantee of a perfect recall each and every time, but making it rewarding will greatly improve the rate of success.

⚠️WARNING WHEN FREEZING TREAT TOYS

Please ensure that if you are stuffing treat toys and freezing them for your pets, don’t forget to ensure there is a HOLE ALL OF THE WAY THROUGH IT.

WHY YOU MAY ASK ?

Toys such as Kongs have 2 holes in their toys for a reason - TO PREVENT SUCTION.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ?

When your pet licks at the contents of the toy or squeezes it in its mouth, their tongue can get SUCKED into the hole and the toy can get STUCK on the dogs tongue. This can cause horrific injuries to the point where the animal can actually die.

Having 2 HOLES in the toy PREVENTS this from happening.

So if you STUFF your toys with treats, natural peanut butter, etc - push a large straw through it to ensure the 2 HOLES ARE NOT BLOCKED. (We like the thick straws used for bubble tea 🧋)

If you are going to FREEZE the toy, do so with the straw in place and then REMOVE the straw before giving it to your pet.
