Luigi won't eat a slice of pear if I give it to him on a lickmat or in his Topl. If he finds that same fruit whole under the tree, well...watch to see what happens 😀
Piper is in the background enjoying her own piece of fruit.

My website is down again.

I think my provider is shutting down this service. I've had no communication from them and the support email is no longer valid.

Can't do much until October and then I will start the task of rebuilding my site.....sigh. The good news is that this will be a chance to revisit and tweak the content!

I will post my upcoming classes here until I get my site back up and running.

Wow! This study shows how integral scenting is to our dogs.🥰

Wow! This study shows how integral scenting is to our dogs.🥰

Scientists at Cornell University have just discovered something extraordinary about dogs' brains, something that's never been found in any other species, including humans.

Dogs have a direct neural motorway connecting their sense of smell to their visual processing centre. They literally "see" with their noses.

Dr Pip Johnson was mapping neural pathways in dogs' brains when she found it. Using advanced MRI scans on 23 dogs, she expected to find the usual smell-to-memory connections that most mammals have.

Instead, she found massive information superhighways she'd never seen before.

"I just kept finding these huge pathways," she says. "They seem like information freeways running from the nose back into the brain."

Sniffing is a dog welfare need. 🥰

Had three major wins with Luigi this week. I was able to get one of the wins on video. I'm so pleased that after almost 8 months of disengagement practice and growing calmness, I'm starting to see changes in his behaviour.❤️❤️❤️

We were biking with the dogs this morning and we saw a moose on the trail. Totally unexpected as this rail trail (K&S out of Sandon for those who know the area) doesn't run along moose habitat.

We were able to leash up the dogs before they noticed the moose. No barking when they did notice...yayyy!

Both dogs were able to disengage as we turned around and returned in the direction we came.

So proud of Luigi. This was his first off-property nosework search and he did well!🥰

My raspberries canes are almost finished producing. I won't be the only one disappointed when the fresh berries are finished for the season!
Piper loves these berries as much as I do. 😋
Luigi will eat the berries but doesn't have the same passion for them that Piper does😅

Took the dogs for a bike ride this morning. There was lots of water both the muddy kind and the clear kind. I wasn't able to get pictures of the dogs coated in mud but here is a short video of Luigi cleaning off the mud😂
