Do you have to “prepare” yourself just to take your dog for a walk around the block? I will help rebuild trust and confidence for you and your dog, to have the calm, joyful life with your dog that you always imagined. I’m Tracy, a retired

vet tech turned dog trainer, mom, wife and all-around dog lover. I have had dogs all my life but when my first dog bit my friend, I was so horrified and ashamed. I immediately turned to dog obedience training books and classes, but it didn't help. This time my dog bit someone very familiar to him and in that moment I knew - this wouldn’t be fixed with simple obedience. I finally realized the key to building confidence in my dog was understanding him on a deeper level. Tossing treats and teaching tricks wasn’t going to cut it. After years of research, trial and error, and discovering a method and a lifestyle of living with dogs based on understanding, respect and communication and not obedience, I'm excited to share what I've learned with you! Now I have a pack of “just good dogs” I trust to take anywhere. Our lives are calm, peaceful, fun and most of all inclusive. My goal is to help you to establish routines that build confidence, develop effective communication strategies, and how to address fear-based behaviours and techniques for enhancing social skills- without spending countless hours and dollars on dog obedience training that just doesn't work. Relevance: The Great Dog-Human Divide 🐾➡️👨‍🦰"

Your dog wants to do dog things—sniff, dig, roll in questionable stuff.

You, on the other hand, want them to do human things—walk nicely, stay clean, and not embarrass you in public.(am I right?) 😅

That space between what they want and what you need? That’s the relevance gap. Obedience can help teach your dog how to BE in Humansville... but here’s the real question:

Beyond Obedience: we believe in creating a partnership with our dogs. It is about:
🐾 Mutual trust and respect
🐾 Allowing your dog to have choices (and being part of those choices)
🐾 Being someone worth following (to a dog)

We stop focusing on control and start focusing on connection, we create a relationship where both human and dog thrive. 💙

In case no one told you this.
You ARE enough.

You are enough for your dog.
Just you.
You don't need all the fanciest toys.
You don't need all the fanciest treats.
You don't need all the fanciest gear.

You just need YOU.

Quite often we as dog lovers get left feeling less than if we are doing all the things.
But dogs aren't about things and stuff.

It's not about the toys you give it's about the time you spend playing with your dog and the toys are just the icing on the top.

So if you have been feeling overwhelmed, and wondering if you are doing things wrong when it comes to your dog. Just know.

You are enough.

Does that mean you have to know all the answers?
Of course not.

This is an ongoing journey of discovery.
But your dog will gladly join you ;-)

And if you want to share that journey with another dog lover... Well, I'm here too and excited for what this year will bring us!

This came up in my Facebook memories today. We have had Irie for 8 years now. When we first got him, we had recently lost our OG Aussie Jake. And Connor immediately “claimed” Irie as HIS dog.
I let it be, he was grieving, I was grieving and here was this beautiful connection unfolding before me.

But, there can be some complications in the pack dynamics when we have humans that claim one dog is theirs and the other dog is yours.
It can create an “us vs them” divide in your pack.
That divide may be okay as long as nothing happens (lol of course right?!!)

But what if something happens?

Hi, My name is Tracy. I am a passionate public speaker, author and all around dog lover and I help people live better with dogs. Sometimes that looks like dog training... but I am NOT a dog trainer, at least not in the traditional sense anyway. My heart tells me that my work transcends "just dog training". That the core of my work is to help dog lovers like me be better humans for their dogs. Dogs are perfect at being dogs, but can struggle in Humansville. We, the humans struggle to guide them in a way that makes sense to them. If we work on ourselves, and start to see the world as our dogs do, well then, everything around us changes, including our dogs.
