As we reflect on 2023 we are thankful for all the help we received from locum Veterinarians, the Animal Healthlink emergency triaging team, and after-hours on-call assistance and sharing from other clinics. We want to thank you, our clients, for your support and understanding during the most difficult times, we appreciate you all. And finally we send a BIG thank you to our incredible staff and Veterinarians here who worked and continue to work tirelessly in order to provide the best care for our patients. Meet Louise. She is a 2 year old spayed fuzzball looking for a forever home. She is nervous at first but will warm up with time and is a really sweet girl, however there is a hint of mischief in her eyes! She will do best in a home with no other pets but has lived with another cat and dog before. Our tree looks lovely with all of those furry faces! Reuben of course INSISTED on being the star. Thank you to all who sent in pictures! We have so many that we ran out of room on the tree and used them to decorate the waiting area as well 😻🎄

Everyone who submitted pet photos was entered into a draw and we would like to send a big CONGRATULATIONS! to Kathleen Anderson who won herself a water bottle with detachable dog bowl, pet food and treats for her sweet doggies and kitty! 🥰

Hi Everyone!

Due to illness we will not have a Veterinarian on site Saturday December 9th. We will still be open for medication pick-ups and food/over-the-counter sales from 9am-12pm and 1pm-3pm *No Controlled Meds*. Emergencies will be directed appropriately. We are certainly fortunate to have Dr. Larissa Carr join our team ☺️

Join us in giving a warm NVA Canada welcome to Dr. Larissa Carr!

Born on the picturesque Prince Edward Island and graduating in the class of 2023 at the Atlantic Veterinary College - AVC, Dr. Carr's passion for veterinary medicine has been a lifelong journey.

Her heart beats for our furry friends, and she has a special interest in small animal surgery that truly sets her apart.

After donning her cap and gown, she made the leap to Nova Scotia, where she's all set to embark on an exciting chapter at the New Glasgow Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Carr is bubbling with enthusiasm to put her well-honed skills to good use and keep on learning every day.

But there's more to her than the white coat! Beyond the clinic, she's a dog mom to the adorable Pam and caretaker of the charming Lenny, her leopard gecko. 🦎🐕 She and her partner are avid trailblazers, globe-trotters, and green thumbs, always finding time for adventures and gardening in their backyard.

🎉 Let's give Dr. Carr a big virtual welcome as she starts this incredible journey in a new province! We're thrilled to have you on board, Larissa.

She is still looking to be adopted

During her stay with us we have tried to have her trained for light duties (cleaning, cat-scans etc) but she is WAY too distracted by Reuben and maybe a little bit lazy!

This is Chester (name can be changed, she is not attached). She is a hard-working girl who makes biscuits all day long. She loves attention and will follow you around waiting for you to talk to her. She loves some chin scratches but can get overstimulated with butt scratches and belly rubs! She came from a house with a lot of other kitties, so may be fine with another well-behaved cat, but she was stressed out by too much going on and did have a sore bladder from all the stress. Chester adores playing fetch with her little stuffed whale toy, or her spring and goes wild for a good catnip filled toy. She has tested negative for FiV and FeLV and has been treated for fleas and dewormed. She would love a home where she can be herself, get lots of attention, and share her love. She is a lovely kitty and deserves a loving home. If interested please contact us at (902)752-4277 or stop in during our regular hours.

A chocolate lab named Beau found himself tangled up in a plant stand this afternoon. With some quick thinking and resourcefulness on Dr. Baird's part Shannon from Bob Allen's was able to assist with the proper tools to remove the metal safely from Beau's ankle. We would like to send a HUGE Thank You to the entire team at Bob Allen's Auto Sales, I'm sure this made your Monday as interesting as it did ours. Beau is doing great and the plant stand isn't doing too badly either!

Canada is currently facing a shortage of veterinarians and registered veterinary technologists and technicians. When thinking of adding a pet to the family, please consider the availability of veterinary care. Many veterinary hospitals are currently booking appointments well in advance.
