At one point I was afraid of what people would think of Luna if she had a muzzle on. That they would stare at her or think she is a “bad dog”. The only thing “bad” about this dog, is that she’s suffering emotionally and in a state of fear.

There is a lot of negative misinformation circulating the general public.

Ever since getting over my fear of ~what other people think~ the way I walk Luna has changed from wary to more confident, and that has done loads for her recovery. I have gone from fearing what might happen to knowing we are all safe, and that includes Luna.

She’s teaching me how to be a better leader, despite the looks of others, and for her I want to be the best.

💛 Luna’s stranger reactivity has been a major challenge. Chris and I work tirelessly to avoid high peak hours so this squish can feel safe.

💛 It’s a long road to recovery, and some days are extremely difficult on us all. Still, days like this make all the hard work worth it.

Let’s talk muzzles! Muzzles have a bad reputation. Did you know muzzles aren’t just used for fearful dogs/biting? They can also be used to make vet visits easier, and stop super explorative pups from eating something they shouldn’t... like poop! 💩 They can also communicate to those around us we may need a little more space. Make sure to introduce your dog slowly using shaping & positive reinforcement. Check that it fits correctly, and consult a trainer if you are unsure. Here you can see how I am introducing Luna to her basket muzzle. A basket muzzle is our preferred style - so she can still take rewards, drink water and pant! Happy training! - k
