Temporary reduced changes to US/Canada travel requirements with your dog. These are the current requirements announced July 22.

Please contact us for clarity or questions if you are planning to travel to the US after August 1.

Starting August 1st the requirements to bring your dog to the US from Canada have changed. Please contact PAWS for help in this matter.

Please also visit inspection.canada.ca/en/animal-health/terrestrial-animals/exports/pets/dogs-usa

A summary of requirements for your dog are as follows.
-be at least 6 months of age
-have an up to date rabies vaccine (or approved CDC exemption)
-have an ISO or universally readable microchip
-have an export document issued and signed by a Canadian licensed veterinarian. (Note this document is good for all visits through the duration of your rabies vaccine)
-have a CDC Dog Import Form Receipt obtained from the CDC website.
-additional documentation depending on where the dog was vaccinated against rabies and where the dog has been in the past 6 months.

I know this all seems daunting but one of our staff travels weekly to the US with her dog to visit a family member and she is keeping as up to date as possible on all these new requirements. We will help you as much as we can! 💪🏻

Thank you to city staff for putting some great reminder signs up! We love hearing that your dog is friendly but please remember that we also have a lot of fearful dogs in our neighborhood that deserve a safe place to walk as well.

This sweet little polar bear had her ears flushed yesterday, and we used a stockinette to cover her ears to prevent her from shaking her head while she was in the clinic.

Meet our newest staff member, Dogtor Blue. He is very specialized in kissing boo-boos better but you will pay for all that specific training. His current rate is 300 treatos per 15 minute consult.

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and we’d like to remind everyone to get their medication refills and food orders in as we will be closed for the weekend! Most of our weekend staff are hard working moms and we think they deserve a day off 🥰

Please also be cautious with those beautiful bouquets, lilies are toxic to kitties so we recommend keeping them out of reach or pulling them from the bouquet altogether if your cat is persistent!

This day honours the lost children and survivors of the residential schools across Canada. It recognizes the ongoing harmful inter generational impacts that affect their families and communities.

We are thrilled to be participating in this years pride window display. Inclusivity and kindness are two things we can really get behind.

Our pets love us for who we are and we really think that is a special thing. We could all learn a lesson from these little lovebugs. We hope everyone enjoys the pride parade tomorrow! Just a reminder that we will be closed tomorrow as the noise and crowds are a bit scary for some of our patients.

PAWS is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Tech (RVT) to 2-3 days a week on a part-time basis. A weekend day will be required and weekdays are flexible.

Our ideal Registered Veterinary Tech (RVT) builds positive client relationships by displaying genuine care and compassion towards clients and their pets, being respectful in all interactions and providing exceptional customer service. The RVT also assists the Veterinarian with medical, surgical and dental procedures, by using a range of diagnostic equipment, preparing patients, instruments and equipment for surgery; and administering and monitoring medicines under the direction of a Veterinarian.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide top-notch medical assistance to animal patients, assisting veterinarians in examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Perform laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and administer medications with precision and care.
Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring detailed and up-to-date documentation of patient histories and treatment plans.
Manage clinic operations efficiently, overseeing day-to-day activities to ensure a smooth workflow.
Utilize exceptional communication skills to educate pet owners on treatment options, post-care instructions, and preventive measures.
Proactively engage in client relationship building, utilizing sales skills to promote clinic services and attract new clientele, thereby contributing to the clinic's growth.
