This weekend, the clinic will be closed to honour Remembrance Day, and those who have been lost. The purple poppy is to honour the animals that have lost their lives as well. This is Joelle!
If you haven't already met Joelle, she has been working with us at Queensborough Veterinary Hospital since 2020 and for a long time was our only RVT! She loves teaching and educating, whether it be giving knowledge to clients or helping our other support staff to learn and grow in their own way. She has a strong passion for animal behaviour, trying her best to make every vet visit the least stressful as possible; and physio therapy, helping to improve quality of life by improved mobility. Many of our patients have seen Joelle for therapeutic laser therapy and what a difference it has made for them! We are grateful to have a RVT like Joelle apart of our team!

This is Maria!
We don't have just one baby RVT in training! Maria, like Jenny, was accepted into Douglas College Veterinary Technology program and started September of last year. Maria first completed her Veterinary Office Assistant Certificate through Douglas College and began working with us thereafter. This bright girl was accepted into the Douglas College Co-op program at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialists this past summer. So if you were wondering why you haven't see her much, she was off learning from the best! We are excited to see how far this girl will go once she becomes a fully fledged RVT!

Meet Jenny!
Jenny started out with us as a volunteer wanting to pursue her career in veterinary medicine as a RVT. This whip smart girl was bursting of potential, and so was hired on as an Assistant. You probably recognize her as one of our receptionists and may not have seen her much as of late. Currently Jenny is attending Douglas Collage full time to complete her diploma in Veterinary Technology to become a RVT! We are so proud of her and how much she has grown; and we are excited when she completes her schooling to become registered in the coming spring!

This is Karla!
Karla's journey into veterinary medicine began in Spain where she grew up. One evening her own dog had an emergency and a generous vet showed her compassion in helping her dog to recovery. She was inspired to help others in the same way and so studied to become a veterinary technician. After a few years she decided to venture somewhere new and landed here in Canada, and started working in emergency medicine for a couple of years. Now she is here with us at Queensborough Vet! Karla is very passionate about the care of her patients and loves to cuddle them every chance she gets! She has also become a fantastic mentor to our baby techs in training, giving them every opportunity to grow and learn! With her knowledge and experience, mixed in with her Spanish flare we are very lucky to have her on our team!

Meet Brandie!
Brandie has been with us for 3 years, and has been a RVT for over 6 years. She began working in veterinary medicine as an assistant for 2 years before attending the Veterinary Technology program at Douglas College. She graduated in 2018, after which she resided in Edmonton, Alberta for 3 years. She spent time at a clinic that treated a variety of animals, from cats and dogs, to exotics and birds, with some wildlife as well! She then relocated back to the Lower Mainland, and has been at QVH since. She is currently practicing on a casual basis and pursuing options to work further with wildlife in the future.
