Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kate Gyselinck to the NVC team!
Dr Kate Gyselinck (most refer to her as Dr Kate) studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph as an undergraduate degree and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010 with honours. She has spent the past 14 years practicing in a small animal practice and emergency clinic in Durham and Kawartha Lakes region.
For those who know her, know Dr. Kate is in her “happy place” when in the OR. She loves to do a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries ranging from routine spays/neuters, to more advanced procedures like cystotomy and GI surgeries. When not in the OR, Dr Kate loves meeting all your furry family members and helping them live their healthiest and happiest lives possible. In addition to general practice Dr Kate can be regularly found working at the local emergency clinic in Whitby and Peterborough.
Dr. Kate, her husband and her two children share their lives with a bunch of furry family members which includes their 2 large dogs – Rupert and Roscoe, 2 cats Tuna and Sharky (aka Oscar the Grouch), and 2 guinea pigs Halo and Creeper. They love exploring the outdoors hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing, and pretty much any other outdoor activity.
We are SO excited to get to work alongside Dr. Kate and can’t wait for you all to meet her 🥳

After three decades of hard work and dedication to his clients, patients and his team, Dr. Green is retiring. There are no words to express the gratitude we have for his tireless dedication to our clinic. He has been a mentor to so many within our industry and our community, and his influence will be felt long into the future. We wish him nothing but the very best in his well-deserved retirement. 🩵
You can share your well wishes and fond memories with us here in the comments, or written on a card provided in the clinic!

This sweet little kitten had a bot fly larva (aka cuterebra) removed from the side of his face today. We tend to see these pests in the Summer and Fall.

Bot fly larvae burrow under the skin of their host leaving their hallmark sign: a lump with a small hole at the larvae’s entry point. We usually see these lesions around the head, neck and trunk of the body. Prompt removal by a veterinarian is recommended to avoid complications such as infection and migration of the larvae to other parts of the body.

This little kitty went home feeling al lot better (and a little lighter!) 🐾🩵
