ahhhhh be still my scruffy

SCRUFFY - ADOPTED

Hello. My name is Scruffy. I am about 7 years old or so and I am some sort of Shihpoo or Schnauzer poo? We really do not know as I am just another older guy left at the shelter to start my life over again. I weigh around 9lbs and that is my ideal body weight. I am a pretty great guy who loves to go on walks and explore new places and new things.My foster mom says I would pretty much complete any family as I am a wonderful little guy. I absolutely am looking for a family who will let me snuggle with them and does not mind a nice furry heating pad on their lap.

I am great with all other dogs, I would be fine in a home with another dog but would be fine in a home by myself too. If I have another dog friend maybe they could be small like me? I am also fine with cats and have met some of those while being in foster care. I am also good with kids and am very gentle with them when taking treatos. As long as the kids are respectful we will be just fine.

I am good in my crate when I need to be in there but I am also fine being outside of my crate as I usually do not get into anything I shouldn’t. I will use p*e pads when I do not go outside but my foster mom is trying to kick that habit. I do enjoy going on car rides and adventures and I am all about going on walks around the neighborhood. I do bark sometimes when people come to the door or when they walk by but I am not super duper annoying about it and quiet down as soon as I am told it’s ok. I also love to chase my tail and do it at least once a day for my cardio! I also love playing with toys too!

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in a dog attack investigation.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:15 a.m., police responded to a call for an animal complaint at Little Norway Park.

It is reported that:

a woman was inside the playground area with a dog that was off-leash

a father with his child approached the playground area

the dog charged toward the child through an open gate

the dog bit and dragged the child to the ground

the woman and the child's father attempted to get the dog to release the child

when the dog released the child, the woman fled northbound out of the area with the dog

The child was taken to hospital with serious, life-altering, but non-life threatening injuries.

The woman is described as 30-40 years old, 5'9"-5'11", with a large build and dark hair in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing glasses, a blue winter jacket and black pants.

The dog is described as black, tan and white in colour, wearing a black hooded jacket and a chain collar.

Investigators are requesting the public's assistance identifying the dog and their owner as there is a concern for public safety.

Images have been released.

This little one is secured...but outside on a deck with no shelter. She is waiting to be SAVED 😪.

It is so cold in Northern MB and she isn't equipped for that weather! No one will bring her inside 💔.

Please, can any of my rescue friend take her?

She is 7 months old. Loves everyone including other dogs. Sweet as can be. Higher energy and bouncy....but has never had any sort of human training. Lots of potential as she just wants to please. Her little wiggle bum deserves a chance.

If you can foster, comment. If you are a rescue and can help...let's do this! She can come to Toronto, no transport cost...we will cover her.

Let me know. She will freeze to death and it is leaving a weight in my soul.

This is appalling to read that they just sat and watched this family in agony.

They sat and watched this dog fighting for their life and did nothing.

They refused to help the owner because they couldn’t save him if he fell in.

They refused to do anything why?

When does a pet’s life become expendable. Yes they did say they would have had to watch a human die as well but I doubt if a child was in the water they would have done nothing.

Let me say this I wouldn’t have hesitated and would have gone in for this family. I would have held the rope or rather asked them to hold it for me so I could have saved this family.
