So Montana has had zero to no interaction with geese .... Let me tell you just TEN minutes before this video we came across the same goose and it was bad... Like almost turned around to go home as it presented too much of a challenge. She was jumping, fixated and Pulling... Yes PULLING
Now the pet owner part of my brain was FRUSTRATED!!!! The trainer part of my brain felt defeated and man imposter syndrome rain HIGH!!! Felt like a couple failure.... Here I am a trainer with my 93lbs doberman pulling and reacting to nature and I don't have complete control it's hard pill to swallow sometimes....
But here's the thing.... She is a LIVING creature who has prey drive who eats meat is bred to chase and hunt.... She is just like me imperfect and still learning daily. Ahaha LIGHT BULB!!! This is a relationship. It takes work. We are always learning together. Further to that every mistake WE make (see what I did there) is not a mistake at all!!! It's information!!! It is clear information on where and what we need to improve on.
Guys Games work. How many games am I playing here? Hint... More then one. Once my pride was done having her feelings I went back into "hey dummy we play games and right now I need to be more fun than the goose".

Meet Jack 1 year old St.Berna-doodle never been inside a house.
So far we have had 6 accidents...
4 happened do to the stress of the cleaning products... As soon as one mess was cleaned up I turned the corner to find another accident and thus the pattern continued. ...
Here's the thing... Accidents happen. So this is all information.
Jack has never done stairs I'll record his progress tomorrow... The vinyl and laminent floors are slippery so they're scarry. Cupboard doors are scary the furnace, the tv with people on it... Walking towards him all things he's not used to inside. Outside he is ALL SMILES so now it's my job to build that same confidence into the house so he can one day go to his forever family with a solid foundation.
But let me also tell you about Mr Jack-o he is the sweetest boy with the softest mouth and the derpy eyes. He loves ear and chin scratches, head massages and a good ole pat on the shoulder.
Once Jack has settled and started to acclimate to indoor life I will start adding some basic foundation games to his resume.

Montana happens to be tall enough to reach the cross walk. You know what we love about it? Confidence. It's a confidence booster for her and us. You feel like the coolest kid on the play ground when she hits the cross walk for you.
We have a couple show stoppers but for me this is my favorite. And we started working on it all because of the pandemic. See what I did there? I used the pandemic to create a show stopper. Silver linings 😘

Well... I didn't get to posting yesterday... But it's here now..
Honestly guys I thought I was going on my ass yesterday. Was a total shot in the dark knock on wood and pray we both didn't get hurt.
With only being a year old I had no idea how little miss would react to me being on my blades. She's seen roller blades with the kids on theirs but never me on them.
She jogged beside me the whole time slack in her lead. Checking in on both little man and myself.
We kept it short and we stayed close to home.
This whole event was a new for her and she trusts me enough to be ok with my springing something like this on her.

Bad video. This hole social media thing is not my strong suite. I am working on getting my crap together so my videos will turn out better. In the mean time this gives you a taste of what my 8 month old Dobie life looks like.
But with fun games little Miss always goes to her kennel and politely waits for her food.
Please note my dog doesn't not get fed from a bowl. Her food is always in a Kong or fed from my hand.
I do this so my dog: 1 she knows my smell and will allow me in her food/toy/treat/bone any time I wish.
2 she never gets anything for free. She is always working and waiting for permission from us. This also allows for choice based learning.
3. It's mental stimulation which you can't have a tired dog without both physical and mental stimulation.
No yelling to "punishment" but a choice. If she isn't making the right choice it takes longer for her to get her food. Or attention.
Training is not a one a done. It's a commitment for the rest of the dogs life. Why not make it fun? Enjoyable for all.
