Odin was having urinary issues, so his owner made an appointment with their veterinarian. As an Ontario Disability Support Payment recipient, she has a limited income and wasn't sure how she would afford his veterinary care.

After discussing their situation, their vet applied for Farley Foundation funding to help cover the cost of Odin's treatment. 🥰

Thanks to your donations, we helped Odin receive the care he needed, and he's back to feeling happy and healthy! To help more pets like Odin, visit farleyfoundation.org/donate.

In these cold temperatures, pets are more vulnerable to developing frostbite, especially on their paws, ears and tail. A good rule of thumb is that if it's too cold outside for you, it's probably too cold for your pet. If you think your pet may have frostbite, take them to your veterinarian immediately.

What do I do if I see a coyote up close? Tips and reminders from Animal Services...

Coyotes are generally shy and want to avoid confrontation with people. If you are approached, you should:
• Stop and stay calm
• Pick up children and small pets
• Stand still until they move on, or back away slowly. Do not turn your back or run from a coyote or fox

If threatened:
• Get big and loud. Use whistles, stomp your feet, clap, yell “Go Away!”
• Call 9-1-1 if they are actively being aggressive or you or your pet are in harm

Report the sighting using the community coyote sighting tool to let others know they are in the area: https://www.newmarket.ca/coyotes

Thinking of welcoming a new pet? Be sure to discuss it as a family, and research the financial and time commitments a pet requires. Giving a pet as a surprise gift isn't recommended. Learn more about pet ownership at ovma,org/petcare.

Adding some holiday greenery to your decor this year? Plants can spruce things up, however some of them can also be dangerous for pets and require extra care if you have a pet that might see them as a snack. If your pet ingests any of these holiday plants, call your vet or Pet Poison Helpline.

P.S. If you're curious about Christmas trees đź‘€ ... they can cause intestinal blockage if the needles are ingested. Live trees are also sometimes treated with chemicals that can cause toxicity if chewed on.
