Cheese Louise…it’s summer already! What could be better than planning the Canadian road trip around CHEESE! Need ideas? The Oxford Country’s self guided Cheese Trail and Eastern Townships Circuit Les Têtes Fromagères would be a scrumptious way to celebrate the best that Canada has to offer.
BUT, Fluffy and his pal Nibbles, self-professed Turophiles (“cheese lovers” for the novice cheese noshers out there), will beg you to take them along. Their arguments will be compelling but do NOT fall for it. Contact the Cat Woman of Steeltown, your neighbourhood Cat Sitting Service, and I will make sure Fluffy and Company will “brie” pampered, provided for and played with while you’re off enjoying a “Gouda” vacation. The Cat Woman of Steeltown had a rare day off and decided to take her own advice and travel local! We went to London Ontario and loved it! One awesome find was the “Kellogg’s Buildings” that have been revamped into a huge entertainment centre with the Hard Rock Hotel and all its memorabilia, 2 craft breweries, excellent food choices, a cozy piano bar, massive play areas for kids and adults alike and, until September 7th, ART COMP, Canada’s largest art competition! Here’s some of my favs!

In early 19th-century England, “Tom and Jerry” was slang for young men who engaged in wild, riotous behavior, popularized by the 1821 novel Life in London by Pierce Egan, which followed the misadventures of two such characters. Additionally, “Tom and Jerry” is the name of a warm, frothy alcoholic drink—similar to eggnog—traditionally enjoyed in the United States during the winter holidays.

Depending on the context, “Tom and Jerry” can evoke cartoon chaos, Victorian-era revelry, or a cozy seasonal beverage.

Today, the Cat Woman of Steeltown celebrates the Capybara! They say the capybara fears nothing…
But it’s not about bravery.

It just doesn’t fight.
Doesn’t run.
Doesn’t shout.
Doesn’t panic.

It moves through the world like nothing can harm it.
It walks past crocodiles like they’re old neighbors.
Strolls by predators like it’s going out for coffee.

And no one touches it.
Not because it’s the strongest.
But because it threatens no one.

It doesn’t demand respect with teeth or growls.
It earns it with calm.

The capybara has that kind of energy that softens the air.
That peace that people want to be around.
That presence that quiets even the loudest minds.

Maybe that’s why birds sit on it, monkeys hang with it, even predators don’t mind it.
Being near a capybara… feels like peace.

It’s not about being untouchable.
It’s about being so at ease that no one even thinks of harming you.

No hate.
No drama.
No rush.

Just life.
Simple. Peaceful. Still.

And maybe the strength we’re missing isn’t about power…
Maybe it’s about being a little more like that.
