Love 4 Paws Dog Rescue (L4PDR) is a non-profit dog rescue located and founded in the Niagara region.

We are an all-breed, all-size volunteer based rescue that helps dogs find forever homes.

Meet Murphy! Located in Kitchener, ON.

Murphy is the sweetest dog you’ll meet, and deserves a safe place to call his very own.

A little bit about this huge cuddle bug:
Weight- 17.7kg
Age: 18 months
Breed - Supermutt!
Neutered - Yes
UTD on Vaccines - Yes
Health issues - None
Allergies - None
Good with kids - Yes! He loves them!
Good with Dogs - Yes! He’s been tested with dogs of all sizes and does great. He can be a little much, so slow introductions will be important so that he doesn’t offend any new doggie friends!
Good with Cats - Yes! He’s met my cat and has been great. He can be a little much, so a dog-save cat is ideal, but calm sleepy cats he’ll leave alone

Issues - Murphy has been tossed from place to place for the past 2 months, prior to coming into my care. He’s a gentle dog, who wants to be with his favorite people all the time. He struggles with separation anxiety, and will cry and whine for the first few minutes until he settles down. He has been crated when alone, but isn’t destructive when left outside of it. This is his only major issue that we have identified.

We had seen some resource gaurding one time while chewing on a stick. He never acted on it, but showed a little bit of teeth. Since then, we’ve worked on helping him realize that it’s okay to give up high value toys. He’s never done it with food, but ever then we’ve been rewarding him when we take toys. We have not had a single problem since!

Training - He has come so far since he was first taken into foster care. He knows to sit, lay down, wait and shake his paw. He has learned that jumping up is not nice, and has been doing very well with this. Crate training has been going well at night time, only taking him a few minutes to settle down before going to bed for the night. He has no accidents in the house, and holds his bladder until it is time to go for a potty. His behavior on walks is beautiful, and he no longer pulls the way he used to, children can therefore walk him. Walking in a heel is still a work in progress, but he is great when reminded and these rules are reinforced. He’s still working on applying these skills when in new environments, like at the pet store and vet clinic. Continuous training would improve this!
None of this would’ve been possible without his wonderful fosters. I cannot thank them enough for all they’ve done for him 💕💗
