UPDATE: Thank you for those donations! You all are the BEST! We are almost at our goal (keep them coming because we’d love to reach our goal). Gizmo is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. We will keep you posted. She is sure a little sweetheart and will be looking for her forever home after she recovers from surgery.

Meet Gizmo, a sweet 5-year-old Shih Tzu mix who recently arrived as a stray at the Battlefords Humane Society (BHS) in desperate need of care. When Gizmo came to us, she had severely matted hair, terribly infected eyes and was clearly neglected. Thanks to our wonderful team at BHS Boarding and Grooming, she's had a makeover and is looking better than ever. She is also getting eyedrops, which she will need to take for life. But now she needs even more help.

Gizmo has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and she needs surgery/treatment to beat it. This little girl has a lot of love left to give, and we want to ensure she has a fighting chance to live happily for the remainder of her life. However, we can't do it alone.

We are trying to raise $2,000 for her medical care so that we can schedule Gizmo's surgery. By contributing you're giving Gizmo a second chance. Your donation—no matter how big or small—will go directly to Gizmo's care (in the event there is money leftover, your donations will go to help other animals we care for that are in need of veterinary treatment).

Come by to visit Sandra anytime before 4pm on Monday! Currently 1 year and 5 months, she’s been in and out of the shelter since she was just a baby, and is ready for a new beginning in her life!! New photos from our facility soon to follow, she’s currently outside rolling in the snow with a few of her friends!

She’s incredibly sweet, loving, social, playful, and patient. During her groom earlier this morning, she was amazingly well-behaved and tolerant. She took to her current friends instantly, bowing and spinning like crazy! With staff, she’s so sweet and loving, she was an instant favourite. All around, she’s an amazing dog and a total sweetheart, and anyone would be lucky to call her theirs. Which you can! Come by to visit her today, tomorrow, or Monday!!
