Grooming spaces are available by appointment only with options for days, evenings, and weekends. There are no hidden fees disguised as costly "add-on packages" here - at Pawcasso we believe every pet deserves the best, so every groom includes:

- The trim of your choice by our master stylist - Lorinda Hill (provided the pet's coat is in good condition. The groomer's motto, of course, is "Humanity before Vanity" so badly matted pets may require a very short style)

Hello Everyone! We hope you are all well! As of Monday, March 8th we will be reopening for regular grooming 😀 We will still be doing outside “curb side” drop off and pick ups for now (please text 705-495-9248 when you arrive) We have a very long list of clients who have had their appointments postponed from as far back as Dec 26th to reschedule and we appreciate your patience as we get back to everyone as quickly as we can! Please do not attempt to book any appointments online unless they are far into the future (After June 1st) we will let you know when we are accepting regular online bookings again. Appointments that were booked ahead for March and April may have to be postponed to allow pets who have been waiting for care throughout the shutdown to get in first. We will try to get back to everyone over the next week to confirm and/or reschedule! If your pet is in urgent need please text to let us know. If your pet’s grooming need isn’t urgent but you would to be added to the list please text us but please be aware there is a long wait for now! We can’t wait to see everyone! Please stay safe ❤️

Hello, Everyone! (Sorry for the long post)

So, as many of you have no doubt heard, Ontario has allowed a partial reopening for pet groomers! This is great news, and we’ve received much well-wishing (Thank you! We love you!) and MANY excited and hopeful calls and texts from clients about this development! However, please understand that, unfortunately, things are not yet back to “business as usual”.

The amendment specifies that grooming businesses can only open if they are providing strictly necessary services to prevent an animal from requiring foreseeable and reasonably imminent veterinary care, or if the pet owner has been required to obtain them under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act, 2019.

It also stipulates that businesses can only provide the above-mentioned services by appointments made for one animal at a time and through curbside pick-up and drop-off.

This definitely means that, even during lockdown, we can now help pets who are matted and/or have very overgrown toenails, but we still are limited to one animal at a time which means it will still take a long time to work our way through the backlog of pets in need – some of whom have been waiting since as far back as Dec 28th.

If you feel that your pet meets the above requirements, please text us at 705-495-9248 and we will put you on our waiting list for urgent care. Please be aware that at the moment, we have no available spaces for these services until after Feb 11th, at which time the order for the general shutdown of non-essential businesses is set to expire anyway.

If the shutdown is lifted, we plan to reopen on Feb 11th for ordinary operations for all pets, and we will begin contacting everyone in the order in which they were originally booked to reschedule missed appointments in sequence. We will do our very best to work through the backlog as quickly as possible and will do our best to prioritize pets in dire need.

However, it is also quite possible that the shutdown will be extended again and if so, general rescheduling will continue to be on hold and we will be limited to grooming that is strictly necessary as defined by the amended order.

We know this uncertainty is frustrating and we apologize. The situation is heart-breaking for us as well.

We have also received many inquiries from clients who were booked ahead in the weeks beyond the current shutdown, wondering if their upcoming appointments will be honoured or if they will have to be rescheduled as well. (We apologize to those of you whom we haven’t been able to contact personally yet, we are trying hard, but it is a lot of calls to make and we don’t always have clear answers to share!) The unfortunate answer is that most upcoming appointments will have to be delayed in order to first offer spaces to all the clients who had their spaces cancelled under lockdown. We understand that this may be disappointing, but it is only fair. How long of a delay we are looking at will depend on when we are allowed to reopen for ordinary grooming. We are hopeful that we will know more early next week and will update as soon as we can!

We hope this message finds you all safe and well ❤️

With the good news released by the Provincial government today (May 14th), we are happy to be able to offer grooming services to those of you who have been waiting so patiently during these challenging times!

Thanks to everyone who reached out to us with their texts, calls, e-mails, adorable pet photos, kind words, and thoughtfulness over the past weeks! Our apologies to those we didn’t manage to get back to, but you were in our hearts and we have missed everyone so much! ❤️

We will be getting back to our new normal starting Tuesday, May 19th. We know many pet parents are anxious for appointments for their dear pets as soon as possible, and we will do our very best to get everyone scheduled in, however please understand we have many furry friends on a waiting list since their prior appointments had to be postponed.

In order for us to reach out to these waiting clients to offer them the first available spaces, we will have to shut down our online booking for a few days. We will announce here when it is going online again. (Please: If you had a prior appointment that had to be cancelled and you have not heard from us by Friday evening send us a text or e-mail!)

COVID-19 Update:

Hello Everyone!

We hope you and your loved ones are well!

As you are probably aware, in response to the COVID-19 situation, the Ontario government ordered the closure of non-essential/at risk businesses for 14 days beginning at 11:59 p.m. on March 24th. We also think it seems probable that at end of these 14 days (April 7th) these restrictions will not be lifted and instead may well last for months.

Like most small businesses, we had been anticipating this development, and we fully expected that pet groomers would be among the businesses classified as non-essential, and, while we strongly support extreme social distancing measures right now to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we were also very concerned about how pets in Ontario might be endangered by months of no professional grooming care.

We were relieved to see, however, that the needs of companion animals were given much consideration in the order. In addition to ensuring that necessary pet food and supplies will remain available, section #71 of the list of essential businesses which are allowed to remain operational reads:

“Businesses that provide for the health and welfare of animals, including veterinarians, farms, boarding kennels, stables, animal shelters, zoos, aquariums, research facilities, and other service providers”

This is somewhat vague in regards to professional pet groomers, but it is our interpretation that pet grooming services would fall under this section as “other service providers” as long as the services offered are essential to an animal’s health or welfare.

This unexpected news alleviated some of our concern for our four-legged friends, however, at Pawcasso Pet Salon, we strongly believe that these are extraordinary times and that ‘business as usual’ for pet grooming salons is not the appropriate response to the COVID-19 situation. We’ve therefore made the difficult decision to close completely during the 14 days specified in the order to help encourage people to stay home to try to flatten the growth curve of COVID-19 in our country.

We will be staying at home and using this time to consider how we can improve our already robust social distancing and safe business practices, and to implement any changes.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to our clients who had appointments booked within this time which we must cancel. We are doing our best to reach each of you individually to ensure you are aware of this development.

Assuming that the government opts to continue the non-essential business closures after April 7th, we would like to reassure everyone that we expect, at that time, to reopen on a limited basis to serve our clients with essential grooming needs.

If you consider your pet’s grooming to be essential, we will be happy to reschedule any postponed appointments and accept new bookings through the process described below.

We consider the following types of grooming needs to be essential to the health and welfare of pets:
• Pets with overgrown toenails
• Pets with matted coats or very overgrown coats which are causing them discomfort
• Certain pets with coat types which are very prone to matting and must therefore be preventatively maintained at a short length (it is our belief that such pets should not be forced to wait until they are suffering to receive essential care)
• Pets who cannot see or have their essential facial hygiene maintained at home due to very shaggy, overgrown faces
• Pets with skin conditions which require regular bathing with medicated shampoos
• Pets needing treatment for parasites such as fleas or ticks
• Pets with f***l matter encrusted in their fur (which poses a risk to both pets and people)
• Pets who must be clipped or bathed regularly due to their owner having a serious allergy to their fur or dander
• All bathing and grooming services for service animals and therapy dogs which must remain in close contact with their people

If none of these criteria apply to your pet, we respectfully ask that you postpone your grooming service appointments for now as we care about your health and our own. We are always happy, however, to help you with suggestions or techniques or products that you can use at home to help with your pet’s grooming care until your next appointment. The best way to reach us right now is probably by e-mail to [email protected] or text message to (705) 495-9248. We also welcome voicemails but responses may be delayed.

If you do have sincere concerns that your pet’s grooming needs are essential, and you would like to be added to a list of clients waiting for appointments to be booked in order of priority once we reopen, please text us and describe your pet’s situation to us and we will do our best to find a service and appointment time that will work for you!

Our apologies to our clients for the challenges and inconveniences that we know this means. We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

Hello Everyone!

At Pawcasso, we are committed to continuing to provide caring service to our customers and their fur-families for as long as we can during these difficult times. However, we take our clients’ health and the importance of social distancing very seriously and in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation have implemented some important new protective measures.

To reduce human traffic through our doors, and person-to-person contact, we now ask that when you arrive for your appointment that you please remain outside and send us a text to let us know that you are here. Someone will come out to get your pet. Please ensure that all cats are in a secure cat carrier, and all dogs are either in a carrier or on a leash with a secure collar or harness that CANNOT be popped over their head or wriggled out of. (This is critical for your pet’s safety as your pet may try to follow you as we lead them into the salon. Please ensure you check this at home before arriving!) We ask that you not try to pass your pet from your arms to ours and that we all try to keep a safe distance from each other as you drop off/pick up our four-legged friends.

If you have detailed grooming instructions etc to discuss, we are happy to call you on the phone once your pet is safely in the building.

For everyone’s safety, we cannot accommodate clients staying in the building while we groom pets or trim their nails at this time.

Please wait patiently for us to call/text to let you know when your pet is finished and ready to go home, text us when you arrive, and we will bring your gorgeous pet out to you! 🙂

Our preferred method of payment at this time is e-transfer to [email protected] with your pet’s name as the password. (Please make sure we have the correct spelling)

If you must pay by debit or credit, please let us know when you drop your pet off and we will accommodate. We are not accepting cash at this time.

If you feel unwell, please let us know and stay home and recover. There are no fees or other penalties for short notice cancellations.

We understand some of these things may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your co-operation in our team effort to keep everyone safe.

We'd like to wish all of our two and four-legged friends a Happy Spring! (if it ever fully arrives) We understand that the spring rush for pet grooming services is beginning, but, unfortunately, we currently have a couple of groomers away due to circumstances beyond our control. As Lorinda is holding the fort alone for a bit, our spaces are very limited and we apologize for the long wait for appointments or delayed responses to voicemails or texts. We are working hard to be able to add more spaces soon and will keep you posted. Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding! We strongly suggest booking your spring & summer appointments ahead online as it looks like it will be a very busy summer here at Pawcasso!
