Thank goodness 99% of our Village Pet friends and customers are the kindest people you could ever ask for. We are so grateful. ❤️
But, lately for some reason the "1%" people are worse than usual, and it needs to stop.
Things my staff gets yelled at for, or things we hear "I'm never shopping here again" about:
- A manufacturer discontinued offering discounts through the Astro frequent buyer program. The customer turned bright red, fists flailing, veins popping out, cursing, and threw the product across the counter.

- A food was unavailable (on backorder) from a distributor in the bag size a customer was hoping for. (The formula was available in a different size, and the customer did not have to go without). "I drove all the way from Nanticoke and you don't have my product in the size I wanted, I'm never shopping here again"
Every single store, on every single day has products out of stock, whether they were back ordered, arrived damaged, wrong item was sent, or they simply sold at a faster than expected rate. I'm betting this person many times has driven to Walmart (same distance, by the way) and not found the size, color, etc of some product and managed to either buy something else, or come back another time without ever yelling at the staff that they will never shop at Walmart again.

- A manufacturer had a special with a limit on the number a customer could buy, and my employee at the register got yelled at. The person came in to shop, not even knowing that there would be a discount. They came in with the intent of purchasing one bag at full price, but when they heard there was a discount but only on the one bag, they became an irate customer and yelled at the employee at the register.

- We were doing a promotion and handed a customer coupons good for a span of days during the next week. The employee who had just spent 45 minutes kindly and patiently helping this customer with their shopping got yelled at because the coupons were for a future purchase, not the current purchase.

Small businesses shouldn't be expected to have some magic wand that makes everything perfect at every moment.
If you are one of the 1% that is reflected here, please rethink how you treat small businesses and their staff.

The level of helpful service that my incredible staff provides all day every day should not ever be met with anger and abuse.

Thank you for listening. These things break my heart. It's not anyone's job description to be the recipient of angry out bursts.
