“Surround yourself with people who push you to do and be better. No drama or negativity, just higher motivation, good times, and positive energy. No jealousy or hate. Just simply bringing out the absolute best each time.” –Anonymous

Let’s talk about barn atmosphere…

It’s not only important that your barn is a good fit for your horse - it should be a good fit for you as well.

A barn could have all of the bells and whistles,
the biggest accolades,
the prettiest tack rooms,
and the best footing…
But is it a positive environment?

It is so important for both you AND your horse that you surround yourself with a barn family that encourages you, supports you, and wants to see you succeed.

Life is too short to waste time on negative energy.
Most importantly… Our time with our horses is too precious to waste on a barn with bad vibes!

Make sure your barn is preparing you and your horse to be the best version of yourselves 🩷🐴

Cantering MORE is not going to help improve that canter.

Why is it that some riders progress immensely faster in the canter vs. the majority? Is it luck? Talent? Or is it that they are doing something inherently different?

Here’s the truth: it’s not how much you canter that matters, it is how you do it.

A poor canter will not improve by simply cantering a lot.

On the contrary, if the horse practices a poor quality canter all the time, this will become a habit that is more difficult to overcome the more it is confirmed.

The old masters used to say that “the trot work develops the canter”. And they were right.

The work in the walk and the trot gives the horse the strength, balance, straightness, and suppleness that he needs to be able to canter in good quality on both leads.

Good canters (unless the horse was born with it) don’t just happen. The horse has to learn to carry the rider with strength, in balance, and in a way that preserves his health and longevity.

And you can learn this.
You can learn all the strategy, techniques, aids, and gymnastic exercises which are designed to HELP your horse step-by-step to canter uphill, straight, engaged, and on the aids.
In the Total Canter Transformation Program, we guide you through this whole process and help you (and your horse) every step of the way.
But pay attention here!!! We start the course on August 2nd and the doors are closing in 5 days!
In this 25-week guided program, you are going to learn:

√ First how to develop the biomechanical foundation for the canter work because the quality of the canter can only be as good as the quality of the transition, and the quality of the transition can only be as good as the quality of the preceding gait.

√ Then you will learn how to craft the perfect transition. You will learn how to use gymnastic exercises which set up the horse optimally for the canter transition. And then you will learn to use the Engage - Flex - Ask technique to ride transitions that are uphill, clear, and “through”.

√ Once you have positioned your horse and yourself for success with good quality transitions, you open the door to all the possibilities for ways to improve the canter with the use of gymnastic exercises, aid sequences, and effective changes to the use of your seat.

√ You will learn how to shape and mold the canter so that you can improve the balance (uphill canter, anyone), bounce and buoyancy, lift and expression.

√ Finally, you will learn how to use the plié and counter canter so that you can further improve the straightness and balance of the canter, unlocking the road to riding high-quality flying changes, canter half passes, and pirouettes.

Yes, we’re going to lay it all out. The strategy and principles. The technique. And ALL of the exercises so you are never left wondering what to do next, why, or how to do it.

All of this with Thomas and Shana Ritter’s assistance, advice, tips, support, and feedback through the entire 25 weeks. Lifetime access to the course and community with our special STUPIDLY-LOW upgrade fee for future rounds of the course.

We absolutely cannot wait to have you join us so we can guide you through this entire process, with our support and feedback every step of the way.

Zero Tolerance. I approve her decision. Time to do better.

STATEMENT FROM CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN

A video has emerged from four years ago which shows me making an error of judgement during a coaching session. Understandably, the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) is investigating and I have made the decision to withdraw from all competition – including the Paris Olympics – while this process takes place.

What happened was completely out of character and does not reflect how I train my horses or coach my pupils, however there is no excuse. I am deeply ashamed and should have set a better example in that moment.

I am sincerely sorry for my actions and devastated that I have let everyone down, including Team GB, fans and sponsors.

I will cooperate fully with the FEI, British Equestrian Federation and British Dressage during their investigations, and will not be commenting further until the process is complete.

Don’t assume that every horse with a high poll is correct, and don’t assume that a horse that is low and round is incorrect. You have to look at the state of the horse’s *back* to truly judge how correct it is. The horse’s back should be relaxed, swinging, and elevated under the saddle, rather than still and hollow. When the horse’s back is properly “up” (arched upwards under the rider’s seat,) he will be correctly seeking the connection. And this can be achieved with many different relative heights of the horse’s neck. Never forget that it is equally as damaging to horses to ride them with a high head and neck with hollow back as it is to ride a horse cranked down in Rollkur.

I am in this sport to change things like this. The double bridle should not be required. It is absolute nonsense and yes abusive in the wrong hands. Many hands. Stop.

Under the current "Urgent Repairs" Submitted to the FEI

Suggestion: Urgent repairs.

Given the current circumstances regarding the scrutiny and questioning of the Dressage Sport. We ask the FEI to re-evaluate it’s decision that it´s mandatory from level CDI 3*and CDIO3* and higher to ride with a double bridle.

We think it is in the best interest for the Dressage sport to make it optional and allow riders to use a snaffle if they deem this in their best interest as a combination.

Response from FEI:
No change. As it was communicated last year, the FEI DTC has the unanimous
understanding that the use of snaffle or double bridle is a technical (sport) matter and not a matter of wellbeing/welfare.

We understand the concerns regarding the social (media) perception, but on this topic, it is our understanding that the perception and reality are not aligned. Despite the amount of relevant work carried out until now, conclusive and/or unquestionable evidence has not been brought to the DTC that allow us to reach to a different conclusion.

However, it should be noted that from a technical perspective the DTC is willing and
available to be part of a round table, that includes a multidisciplinary team of experts from all stakeholders, to discuss the correct fitting and possible modernising of the double bridle.

As stated, based on many years of experience, the data currently at hand, and the results achieved, the DTC remains of the opinion that using the double bridle at top sport level is not a welfare issue.

Please contact the FEI and object to this response: https://www.fei.org/contact

If you haven't already signed our petition for change, please do so and please share, share, share - for the horses.
