Everyone meet my ‘firstborn’ ;) ~ This is Beau, the sweetest most soft hearted angel boy to have ever walked this earth...as my motherly biased opinion kicks in lol. I adopted him 11 years ago this January, so this is a bit of a belated Happy Birthday for my Mr.Beaumont!! He has way too many nicknames for me to even begin to try and list off here, so that I will save for another post ;) haha. I adopted him when I was 28 years old, and he undoubtedly changed my life. This boy was the shyest, most fearful little 6 month old pup when I picked him up from the BCSPCA in Kelowna. I drove there and back to Vancouver in the same day, and wasn’t going to leave there without him.
Once I had got there, the staff members knew who I was about to see as it was a scheduled visit given that I was coming all the way from Vancouver. As they started to lead me to Beau (his name was actually ‘Conroy’ at the time LOLLL) they seemed to be more keen on showing other dogs on my walk over, trying to convince me to maybe interact with a bunch of the other dogs first. I wasn’t quite sure why that was at the time, but I just kind of went along with it because let’s be honest I love giving all the dogs at the shelter some love. Every one of them along the line of kennels were barking, jumping, and had extremely high energy. After that, I was then told to wait in the private room for them to bring him in to meet me. I’ll never forget seeing him for the first time. As he looked up at me with his heart melting brown eyes, his very hesitant and shy demeanour, so quiet and gentle, I just KNEW he was the one. He was so nervous from his trauma that he p*ed himself, but submissively let me cuddle him and rub his belly. ... CONTINUED IN COMMENTS

Hello Paws & Pals!!
I know that it has been a hot minute since I’ve posted in on here, and I have been wanting to update you all, and re-introduce myself to those of you who may not know me yet!

My name is Jesse, and I am the designer and creator of Handsome Mountain. I have these two incredibly sweet sidekicks named Beau & Virgil ~ They fulfill my days by always making me laugh, share an unwavering love, and constantly remind me to appreciate the little things; to take those cliché moments to actually stop “and smell the flowers” if you will ... although in their case, “sniff the last dog p*eps and quickly reclaim my fave p*e spot!” ;) ... sniff the air, and to truly take your time to enjoy and observe your surroundings.

I wanted to share some more personal things today, as I have found that I have been feeling the need to be more transparent as to reasons why I can sometimes ‘vanish’ on social media for small periods of time, and how my social accountability suffers because of it.

Over the past several years I have been through some of the biggest ebbs and flows of my life. Too much to really cover in a meager post, but one of the more notable and easy to talk about things for me is that I have been struggling with a life altering autoimmune disease diagnosis, that has lead me into realms of mental health I didn’t think was ever possible for me to encounter. It has caused severe stress, weight gain, depression, dietary restrictions that seem almost impossible to maintain, and a very lengthy list of health issues/side effects that have created what feel like ‘roadblocks’ at times if you will. I feel immensely for anyone who has to deal with anything of the sort, and sincerely send you my love and positivity. ..
