One year ago today, we went and picked up Josie, Evie, and Rebel (she is hiding behind her mom in two of the pictures)(yes, we brought them home in the back seat of the truck... It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!)
We didn't know then, but the group doubled in size in February when the three kids were born, Nelly, Luke and Leia.
Happy gotcha day, we are glad you are part of our family!

Today's workout is gourd smashing!
These resilient little vegetables are all that's left of the pumpkin pile. We strategically set aside anything whole when we got them.
The mini pigs can't get them started, which leaves me and my sledgehammer (or 'persuader' as my dad calls it).
Break.time is over, back to my workout!

Meet Abraham!! He's a happy guy even after his long journey here. I think it's because he got to bring his blankie with him.
He's going to settle in in his own space before meeting the clan, they can be a lot. And by 'they', I mean Regan! 😂

Everyone is loving the leftovers! Two days is not too many days for pumpkin.
Also, you can see in this picture that Maple is using her ears as a sun visor. Handy!

It's Pumpkin Day!! 🎃
Thank you to the residents of Norwood who donated their jack o lanterns to the Pumpkin Parade and to the Township of Asphodel-Norwood for dropping them off in the rain last night.
Today is a feast!

Happy Halloween 🎃👻
Our animals are not great at costumes, but in the spirit of Halloween, I offer you Miss Piggy and Regan wearing "disguises" and some of our alpacas practicing the popular "co**se scene" that you find on front lawns.
Our animals are looking forward to the days after Halloween when folks donate their used jack-o'-lanterns. Yum!!

Shout out to George, our top pig, who has been helping us in getting Maple settled in with the mini pigs outside.
George believes everyone should get along. So if he sees pigs fighting, he runs over to break it up! He will also decide who caused the fight and chase them to let them know what he thinks of their behaviour.
Sometimes he'll even head of someone who is going to pick a fight before they even start it!
You are amazing, Georgie!! ♥️

What a difference a year makes!
We almost lost Regan a year ago when he suddenly started losing a lot of weight. It turned out to be an infection, which we were able to test with antibiotics. We fed him a ridiculous amount of food, twice what our full grown pigs eat each day to try and put some weight on him. Our vet was skeptical about him surviving, he was less than a year old. I took pictures of him every day so I could see if he was gaining weight!
The first picture is him in the wallow over the weekend and the rest are a year old. His hair was thin and so was he!
Now he's our biggest trouble maker, but he's too cute to be in trouble for long!

It's a glorious day to be outside!
It's supposed to be glorious weather this weekend, which makes it a perfect time to come for a tour!!
We have switched our tour time to the afternoon at 1:00 pm for the winter.
Come and spend a relaxing afternoon with our animals!
Tours run about 2 hours and are available both Saturday and Sunday.

Good, but sad news.
We had bloodwork done for Aurora and got the results back yesterday.
She has had trouble walking and has been getting frequent abscesses in her feet since she arrived here. Sometimes it would seem to get better, but then it would flare up again.
The test confirmed Cushing's disease, which is the sad news, but we are hopeful that the medication that she will be starting will help to control the symptoms so that she can be more comfortable.

The alpacas finally got to spend a significant amount of time outside yesterday.
The weather hasn't been great, but more often, they've been escaping from their pen, which is an automatic time out inside... After we chase them back to the barn.
Last night they seemed content to just graze where they belong, so they got to stay outside and enjoy the sunshine.

One of those pictures you couldn't get again if you tried!
I leaned in for a closer shot as she spit at my phone in her face. Bonus: the phone blocked most of the spit!
I took the second picture first and added it so you could see her non angry face!

Our alpacas mostly spit at each other when there is competition over food or space, but sometimes spitting fights break out for reasons only they understand.

Look at their little faces! 😍 These cuties will be available for adoption next week! If you love long walks, hiking, or running, a Vizsla could be your dream dog!

Our foster puppies are here!! We will be looking for forever homes for them after they get their shots next week! Until then, I'll work on getting non blurry pictures of their cute little faces!!

After a day inside, Boo has a good roll and then a good run, making sure he gets everyone else to join in!

We are in a heart wave for another 2 days, this is how Wilbur and Mel are keeping cool!

I'm so glad I have hands! He keeps going and eats it all!! I'm looking forward to warmer days when he can go outside and pick his own food!

I went to check on the babies, they thought I was Mama coming to feed them! So cute!!

Huey and Dewey playing in the puddle! Everyone enjoyed time outside today. What a beautiful day!
