Radiographs are an important diagnostic tool in veterinary practice…
M. is a handsome 2 year old retriever who presented to us at River Glen Veterinary Clinic with loss of appetite.
X-ray showed a foreign body in his stomach and intense.
Watch the moment a ball is extracted from his stomach.
We wish M. a smooth and speedy recovery at home ♥️🐾
S. is a beautiful 2 year old Morkie who presented to us at River Glen Veterinary clinic for second opinion regarding blood in the urine not responding to medications.
POCUS “point of care ultrasound” was immediately performed and revealed two stones (video). S. went straight to surgery and was back home safe within few hours.
S. had her ultrasound, radiograph, blood work and surgery performed in 5 hours and left to home same day. Enjoy it to the max S. 😁
Watch Cooper's Recovery Story. Thanks Burlington Humane Society Burlington Humane Society for allowing us to share in his care!
Veterinary POCUS stands for point-of-care-ultrasound.
It is a goal-directed ultrasound examination(s). POCUS is readily available and provides focused answers to our patients. We incorporate it frequently with our exams. Bring quick means it is mostly stress free.
K. Presented to us for wellness assessment, however a heart murmur was heard on medical exam. K’s owner gave a history of a syncopal attack last summer.
Unfortunately Ultrasound showed a large cardiac mass occupying most of K’s left atrial mass (arrow)
Dado, is an exceptional puppy! He understands two languages like a pro, sits like a human and works as a co-pilot just to be with his Papa ☺️
Last July, Dado injured his right leg while playing and sustained a fracture leaving him unable to use his leg.
Dado’s papa drove many miles to our clinic and his healing journey then started.
Dado‘s fracture was fixed with plates and screws that same day.
Dado’s papa dedicated all his time for his post operative care. During the journey of recovery we got to meet wonderful friends of the family. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure an active puppy is well cared for.
This is Dado running and playing 4 months after his surgery. Could you tell which one of the two puppies is Dado?
Happy Birthday sweet Dado and many happy returns! 🐾
Cruciate Injury in cats is not as common as in dogs.
In cats. traumatic cruciate ruptures commonly occur as a result of falls. Cats with so-called “apartment or High rise syndrome,” that is fall from significant heights, may suffer stifle injuries, among other traumas.
While cruciate rupture is common in those circumstances, it is almost always part of “polytrauma” to their knee.
Arlo is thought to have fallen off the fridge top. He presented in extreme pain, non weight bearing on his left leg. Radiographs pointed to a cruciate injury (Red arrow). During surgery, his meniscus (knee joint cushion) was found to be torn, in addition to a tear in the cartilage covering the bone surface. Arlo underwent surgical repair along with a course of joint support management. This is Arlo 3 months following his surgery. Completely off medications. Way to go Arlo!:)
Cat bites carry a high risk of infection. Timothy had a fight with another cat.
In couple of days his wound formed an abscess. Under sedation, his abscess was completely drained and flushed aseptically. In situ drain for few days are required to prevent recollection.
It is important to keep our pets up to date with their Rabies shot to protect them and protect ourselves. Timothy is on the mend and is recovering at home smoothly. 🐾💓
