Tucker - It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to Tucker for the last time, as we laid him to rest on August 22, 2024.

He was with me for 36 years and was around 20 years old when I got him. We can't verify this but his teeth told us he was 19 or 20, so this makes him around 56 years old when he passed.

I have so many wonderful memories and stories about him! He taught so many children how to ride and never, ever put a foot wrong. There was a time when we had to stop allowing people to give him treats though, as he got too greedy and started biting.

He was about 12.2 hh and was a "Pony of America's, pony. This breed is an appaloosa under 14.2hh. In the Spring he had brown spots on his bay coat. You had to look closely, but they were there.

In all those long years that he lived he was never lame and never sick. About 12 years ago, we had to switch him to softened hay cubes and grain pellets. He didn't have many teeth and could only chew softened food.

He was only retired from riding lessons about 3 years ago. He was happy when he was working. I think this is why he lived so long. If I tacked him up and let him go around the arena without a rider, he would walk, trot, and canter all on his own. He was just so extraordinary!

Farewell old friend, you will always be missed. You were the best of the best and I will never forget you!

Fun fact!

Mikey was hanging around the house this morning, not doing much. As he’s going to the cardiologist tomorrow, he thought he should take his blood pressure. It was 140/85, which is high for him. Then off to the barn to help the farrier with D’Artagnan while having his mani-pedi, wrangling up the escape artist Loki from one of the furthest fields , feeding D'Artagnan , leading him back in his paddock, filling up his water bucket, etc. Then he comes home and immediately takes his bp, which he figures will now be over the top….it was 119/78. Proof that the barn is good for your heart in more ways than one. Truth.❤️🐴

Elaine Flintoff - April 24, 1944 - August 19, 2023 (79 years old).
It has only just come to our attention that a dear friend and fellow rider at Belvoir Hill lost her battle with cancer last August 19th. Her sister, Kathy Holder posted this on her memory wall:
"Elaine was my older sister. I will forever miss our chats, her laugh and giggles, her sometimes quirky Christmas gifts and her outgoing personality. She was an animal lover (especially horses), an artist, a talented craftsperson, a gardener and very athletic. Elaine, I will forever love and miss you".
Tragically, her beloved horse, Isabella also crossed the rainbow bridge.
Elaine was a long-time friend of Trish's and along with many of you, will be missed. RIP Elaine and Isabella.
