It is a day to advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome globally.

I follow this groomer who is a fantastic groomer. This video is difficult to watch because of several reasons. This dog is very difficult for the groomer and not nice to the owners. Grooming is not optional for these dogs. I don’t have the history of this dog but we do see them and we do our best.

Getting your dog used to being groomed by a professional as a puppy is VERY IMPORTANT and there are no excuses.

Sadly we see dogs when it’s too late because people get them, try to groom them at home and once the owners realize it’s not easy they seek professional services. The puppy isn’t being trained to accept the process as it not something dogs naturally accept. Owners wait too long for puppy intro grooming, we need to see them at 4 months or sooner and several times at short intervals and owners need to do home maintenance to reinforce the training. It’s not always easy but once they accept it and a good foundation is created the puppy will accept it. With that said, poor breeding can create poor temperament and even under proper maintenance and training the dogs never accept the process.
