Dedicated to tackling the challenges of overpopulation, abandonment, and neglect, we proudly operate as a no-kill sanctuary for cats. The Comfie Cat Shelter is a no-kill shelter founded in 2005 to address the issue of the over population of abandoned cats. The shelter was established because the number of cats being abandoned or neglected is increasing every year. The members/volunteers of The Com

fie Cat Shelter believe in helping cats in need. If accepted, cats surrendered by their owners must be defleaed and vaccinated. Cats that have been rescued or accepted from people who are no longer able to care for them, are given veterinary care and medication when required. Cats and older kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Kittens too young to be spayed/neutered come with a $50 certificate to be refunded when proof of spay/neuter is shown. Until recently all of the cats were kept in foster homes until permanent homes could be found for them. The foster homes are screened for their ability to give quality care and a loving environment to the cats or kittens. While we continue to use foster homes when needed, we now have a location at 112 Norweld Drive. in Orillia and we invite the public to make an appointment at (705) 326-1545 to visit and meet the cats for adoption.

Hi, I’m Wanda—though my friends call me Wally! I made my way to the shelter after a daring escape from the Orillia Walmart Garden Centre (hence the nickname "Wally") in Winter 2023 when I was just 5 months old. I was quite the escape artist and it took the volunteers some time to catch me. But hey, that just shows how clever I am!

I was initially very shy around humans, though my curiosity about what they were up to was undeniable. I watched as they petted other kitties, and I was intrigued. Now, I’ve discovered how wonderful petting can be and I absolutely LOVE it! While I’m still a bit skittish at times, I’ll roll over and give you an upside-down look, reaching out for pets. Just a heads up—I’m still figuring out how I feel about belly rubs, but head scratches? Yes, please!

I’m a playful and social kitty who adores other felines. I’d do best in a home with teens or adults, as I find young children a bit too loud and energetic. I’m not sure about dogs since I haven’t met any yet, but I might get along with older, quieter dogs.
I am a short hair, grey tabby/tortie, spayed female who was born June 2023.

Hi there, I’m Almond! I absolutely adore getting petted, especially enjoying those delightful butt scratches and cheek rubs. 😺 While I’m not too fond of being held, I promise I’ll keep you entertained in other ways.

Say hello to Pixel, a sweet yet timid young torbie who deserves a loving forever home. 🌟 Found alongside busy Hwy 11 with her kittens, this mama cat hasn’t had the easiest start in life and may not have experienced the warmth of human affection until coming to The Comfie Cat Shelter.

Pixel is a gentle soul who will tolerate other cats, but what she truly needs is a patient and loving human who can help her build confidence and trust. 🧡

We believe Pixel would thrive in an adult-only home, and it’s likely best if there are no dogs around. Since Pixel is a bit of an 'Underdog' who needs some extra care and patience, we’ve reduced her adoption fee significantly to help her find that special someone.

Hi there! I’m Hootie, and I’m here to steal your heart! 😺❤️ I might be a bit shy when we first meet, but give me a little time and I promise I’ll shower you with all the love you can handle. My adorable meow will melt your heart every time I want your attention!

While I can be a bit talkative and noisy in a carrier (you might want to keep some earplugs handy!), I’m a tolerant traveler for those short vet trips. I get along well with other kitties and I’m used to sharing my space, but I’m not too sure about dogs since I haven’t had much experience with them.

I’m looking for a quiet home, ideally with just adults or gentle, older kids. I’ve been at The Comfie Cat Shelter since April 2024, and I’m ready to find a loving family of my own.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! . Here's an amazing tale about a structural steel company in Orillia, Ontario that stepped up to assist a local cat rescue, the Comfie Cat Shelter. Last year, the CCS received a generous donation from Canada's Wonderland: a substantial number of Shor-Line animal holding cages. These cages had been retired after the park closed its animal facility and were sitting in storage. The Orillia SPCA connected the shelter with the Services Manager at Wonderland, facilitating the donation. After discussions between the CCS manager and Wonderland, the shelter happily received 30 stainless steel containment cages. However, these cages were originally designed for wall installation, not as mobile units needed for daily cleaning and movement. Facing this challenge, the shelter turned to Nor-Weld Ltd. in Orillia for assistance. Following productive meetings, Nor-Weld devised a plan to modify the cages for mobility, doubling them up on custom-built platforms.
