"Widely respected as an elder statesman of Natural Heritage Protection in Ontario, Ron’s wisdom and guidance will be missed. He was very proud of having co-founded the Couchiching Conservancy, a local Land Trust that preserves wild areas for future generations. An avid canoeist with his wife Janet, Ron travelled dozens of northern rivers. Together they co-authored Canoeing Ontario River’s.

Born in Chesley Ontario, predeceased by his parents John and Marion Reid. Beloved husband and partner of Janet Grand for 45 years. Loving father of Peter Reid, and Alexander Reid. Dear brother of Ian (Cecile), David (Aleta Crawford), Keith (Jan), Bob (Barb). Ron will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East, Orillia on Friday December 20th, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Couchiching Conservancy Heartwood Fund. Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca."

To assist in your donation choices at Bird House Nature Company, all purchases of books, children's toys, puzzles, and snacks (candy) are exempt from HST/GST tax until February 15th.

We carry Judith's greeting cards in-store. Today, she will have a selection of soft velveteen fabric zippered cushions, lined canvas tote bags, fridge magnets and framed photos, including prints on metal. All images are one of kind photographs captured thru Judith's camera lens.

Still time to drop off a toy for the annual toy drive

Bird House Nature Company is a designated drop off for donations to the "16th Annual Make a Kid Smile Christmas Toy Drive."
We will be accepting unwrapped donations in-store until
December 13th.

"This year we would LOVE to put more focus on the teenagers who need our help - although we will gladly accept any donations applicable to our toy drive. Your kindness over the last 16 years has been paramount in helping us achieve our goals…so, thank you!"
