Tomorrow is April Fool's Day, but I think Mother Nature already played a joke on us over the weekend. Let's hope we have better days coming ahead. Remember that with the nice weather also comes the ticks and time to protect your pets against these nasty pests.

NATIONAL PUPPY DAY
Contact us about how to give your puppy a great start. We have started a healthy start program for puppies and kittens. The clinic staff can give you more information about this program. Send us pictures to [email protected] that we can post on facebook. Here are a few pictures on my dogs when they were puppies.

The warmer weather is fast approaching and we all like to see our temperatures rise but so do the parasites and ticks. It is time to contact the clinic to protect your pets against these pests. We start doing our testing for the heartworm, tick borne diseases after April 15th which is 6 months post exposure to mosquitoes. If you have a puppy that was born prior to October 15th, they will need a test this year before starting your medication. If you need further information, please contact the clinic at 613 826 3456.

NEW ORDERING DAY!!
We are changing our ordering days for the compounded drugs to Tuesdays before 2:00 p.m. starting April 1st. Making this change will assure our clients should have the medications delivered on Thursday and clients will have their pet's medication before the weekend. Currently, we have not been receiving these medications until late Friday and it is not enough time to prepare them ready for pick up by the weekend.

Today, we had 9 Central Asian Shepherd puppies come in for their first vaccines before they go to their new homes.

Dear Clients of Osgoode Veterinary Services,

Oftentimes, unusually bad breath is the first sign of dental disease we
notice in our pets. If your pet doesn't pass the bad breath test, it would
be a good idea to check for things like red or inflamed gums, loose
teeth, plaque, or discoloured teeth with brown tartar along the gum line.
Some more elusive signs of dental disease include difficulty chewing
kibble, loss of appetite, and even excessive drooling.
If you have ever noticed any of these signs of dental disease, it may be
time to book a visit with the team at Osgoode Veterinary Services. We
can complete a dental exam and ensure your pet passes the bad breath
test. During the exam, we will Flip the Lip and examine your pet’s teeth
and gums.
After we have completed the assessment, we can provide you with a
customized plan for keeping your smile beautiful for years to come!

Most of us would rather stay inside on a day like today, but a lot of our dogs probably enjoyed playing outside. Send us some of those pictures of your furry friends having fun. Our dog Shyla likes to sleep outside.

Due to the current snow storm we are having today, the clinic will be closed. Please everyone drive slowly and safely. If you have an emergency with your pet please contact, Alta Vista Animal Hospital at 613 731 6851 or Animal emergency and speciality hospital at 613 745 0123. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Just like the saying "Baby it's cold outside", we are having very cold temperatures and should take care when walking our dogs or just letting them outside. Dogs and cats can also get frostbite, especially on their ears, noses and areas that are bare to the elements. Only let them out for short periods of time and if you notice them lifting up their paws, this is a sign they should come inside to warm up. Clean dog's paws after a walk to make sure there is not salt suck in between their pads which can cause irritation. If you are concerned about the well being of your pet or notice any changes no matter how small, please call the clinic for advice.

Shyla is warming our hearts with her festive
style. Share your pet’s winter look with us—we’d
love to see it!
Keep your pets safe during Christmas, they can smell those boxes of chocolate under our tree. Chocolate is toxic to dogs and we don't want any of our patients to have to go to an emergency clinic during the holidays.
