On this Indigenous Peoples Day, we honour the rich history and enduring presence of the Indigenous communities within our region. Touch of a Paw Spa is located on lands within the Traditional and Treaty Territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Anishinaabeg, signatories of the Williams Treaties, which include the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, and Alderville First Nations, and the Chippewas of Georgina Island, Rama, and Beausoleil First Nations.

We are deeply grateful for the Anishinaabeg who have cared for the land and waters within this territory since time immemorial. Today, our community is home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people, and we recognize and celebrate this rich Indigenous heritage.

Here are the top grooming blunders and how to steer clear of them for a happier, healthier pet; these tips apply to all breeds and sizes of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs:

1. **Neglecting Regular Brushing**: Letting those brushes collect dust? Think again! Regular brushing removes loose fur, prevents mats, and stimulates the skin. Set a schedule based on your pet's coat type and stick to it. Short-haired breeds may need a weekly once-over, while longer-haired pals might need daily attention.

2. **Using the Wrong Grooming Tools**: Not all brushes are created equal. Using the wrong tools can cause discomfort or even harm your pet's coat. 🌑 Don't worry! Just like us, our pets are safe during this celestial event. Scientists have warned people not to look directly at the eclipse without special glasses, but you shouldn’t worry about going out to find canine-sized eyewear for your dog. That’s because dogs don’t naturally look up or stare at the sun, according to Dr. Jerry Klein, the chief veterinary officer for the AKC. “They know enough not to,” he pointed out, and then adding jokingly, “That’s why they’re smarter than people.”

According to the latest findings from the American Kennel Club (AKC), solar eclipses typically don't impact our beloved companions. However, it's essential for pet owners to follow safety guidelines while enjoying this natural spectacle. 🚨 URGENT MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY 🚨
We regret to inform you that our pet grooming spa was broken into early this morning. At around 4:30 AM, burglars used force to enter our premises breaking our door and frame, stealing our cash and music system.

Waking up to the news of the break-in this morning was not just a blow to our business, but it saddened us to know that our sanctuary for pets and their owners was violated. As a team that pours our hearts into every grooming session, this incident has left us shaken.

Despite this setback, our doors remain open to continue providing exceptional service to our furry clients and their owners.

We want to reassure you that the safety of our clients, staff, and premises is paramount. We're taking immediate steps to enhance security, including installing a 24-hour security system to prevent any future similar situations, and we are no longer carrying cash on premises.

As we work to recover from this unfortunate event, we kindly ask for your continued support.
