🚨 PSA - PLEASE KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS 🚨

Please Share! 🗣️

🧡 We care deeply about the well-being of our feline friends 🐈 and want to share some important information with you 🎙️. Recently, we've noticed an increase in incidents involving outdoor cats, and we're reaching out to help keep your beloved pets safe 🧸.

In the past two weeks alone, we've encountered 16 cats who sadly lost their lives due to outdoor hazards 🚫. These incidents included:

❌ Accidents with vehicles
❌ Encounters with wildlife
❌ Exposure to harmful substances

Additionally, we've seen cases of outdoor cats 🐈 giving birth to kittens in challenging conditions ☀️ 🦠 🪤 ❄️ 🦉, leading to health issues for the little ones that are potentially fatal 😿.

We recently had a heartwarming 🫶 reunion with a cat found in a different municipality, possibly due to unintentional relocation 🚘. These cats are removed from their home and left stranded, which is unfair in this heat ☀️. This highlights the risks of cats roaming freely outdoors.

While it's tempting to let our cats explore outside 🌳, keeping them indoors is the safest option 🏡. Not only does it protect them from various dangers, but it also aligns with the Town of Whitby's Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw ✅.

🧠 Here are some ways to keep your indoor cat happy and stimulated:

📍 Provide plenty of toys and interactive playtime

📍 Create cozy perches near windows for bird-watching

📍 Consider building a secure "catio" or enclosed outdoor space

📍 Try leash-training for supervised outdoor adventures

📍 By keeping our cats indoors, we can ensure they live long, healthy lives while also protecting local wildlife. Let's work together to create a safe environment for all our furry friends ❤️‍🩹!

Remember 🤔, your cat's long-term health and safety are far more important than a momentary desire to go outside ☝️. With a little creativity, we can make the great indoors an exciting place for our feline companions 🙌.

😽CAT FOOD DONATION REQUEST 😽

We are specifically in need of wet and dry cat food for those picky eaters!

Preferably the Friskies, Whiskas...those seem to be the choice for a few in our care...But we will accept any brand!

Dry is needed the most ❤️

Any donations can be brought to the shelter at 919 Farewell Street in Oshawa any day between 830-430.

You can place it at the front door in our blue bin!

Jimi Bundrix🐇💚- this handsome boy is 4 years old. He is a sweet bunny who loves the attention. He doesn’t mind being picked up and will cuddle up in your arms. He also loves his fresh vegetables in the morning🥬! This sweet boy is litter trained and will need enrichment toys to help keep him busy in his new home!

These three cuties join us from Oshawa Animal Services! They are UTD on vaccinations, fixed, microchipped, flea treated & de-wormed.🐾

Flora 🌸 (4 year old, female) - she is a very sweet girl who loves to be pet & will give you kisses! She is a little shy & will need extra TLC in her new home to help her adjust! Flora feels safe in her hideaway beds & loves to snuggle up in them for her naps! This pretty girl will need to be brushed regularly to help manage her longer hair! Flora does not seem to mind other kitties & with a slow and proper introduction she would be fine with a kitty companion! 🩷

Troy 💙(4 year old, male) - very sweet boy who loves attention & pets! Troy is FIV+ which affects his immune system but that doesn’t stop him from being a super loving kitty🥰. Troy love’s to snuggle in soft comfy bed’s & enjoy’s catnip pillows! Troy will need some extra TLC in his new home due to his health condition. He is also currently eating EN gastrointestinal food for his sensitive tummy.

Van Gogh❤️ (6 year old, male)- very sweet & loving boy, but can get over stimulated when he’s had enough pet’s. He loves to snuggle & play under his soft blankets. This handsome boy will need lots of toys and cat tree’s to keep him busy in his new home! Van Gogh would do best in a cat savvy home & with a proper slow introduction he would adapt with other furry friends!

We may not have kittens in store but these 2 lovely kittens are ready for their furever home together!😻😻

Ok, this is starting to get concerning.

The GREAT news is that Freya and Finn are ADOPTED and are in their forever homes 🏡

The concerning thing is that Athena had 3 applications all fall through and Odin was 100% adopted and it also fell through. We have not had any applications at all for mom, Electra.
The even more concerning thing ❓
We have 8 kittens that will be ready for adoption in the next 4-6 weeks and we hope that we can find homes for them. They too are with an amazing foster mom that is working hard to socialize them.

Our foster mom Sarah has worked hard with ODIN and ATHENA and they are both well rounded kitties socially.
They are kid friendly, people friendly, dog 🐕 friendly, cat 🐈 friendly.

****Sarah now has noticed that Athena and Odin are BONDED.
I guess sometimes things happen for a reason and maybe that is WHY their individual adoptions kept falling through 🤷

So after reassessment, WE WOULD LIKE ATHENA & ODIN to be adopted TOGETHER.
After all, 2 kitties 🐈🐈are better than one !
Double the fun,
double the entertainment,
double the love❤️and
double the trouble ‼️

So now let's talk about the mom Electra - she is timid. Not aggressive in any way but just doesn't 100% trust people so we will need someone willing to foster her or foster to adopt her that is willing to put in the time to get her to trust again.
Electra has been slowly improving since coming to Sarah and she was a really good mom and was so good with allowing Sarah to weigh her babies, cuddle them and socialize them.
Electra is your best friend if you have a churu in your hand! Treats are going to be the way to gain this girl's trust! Electra is estimated to be close to a year old.

We appreciate Sarah and all that she has done for this momma and her litter of 4 kitties 🐈.
We also know that Sarah also fosters for her local humane society and they have been begging her to intake more newborn kittens. Sarah can't say yes until our guys are placed. Sarah has an amazing "Kitten Room" set up in her home which is the equivalent to a Cat Disney Park if there was such a thing, this would be it !!
We never want to be a hindrance to saving more kitties so we really need to find these guys placement so that Sarah can say "yes" to her humane society.

Join us Saturday, June 22nd & Sunday, June 23rd as we partner with Oshawa Animal Service Center to find loving furever homes for cats, kittens & small animals!

❗️Some things to note❗️
- The adoptions are on a first come, first approved basis. We cannot hold.
- All adoption fees will be $169.50 (adults) & $226 (kittens) & paid by CASH only as all funds go directly to the shelter. (Small Animals adoption fee is $45.20)
- For safety reasons, all animals need to go home secured in a carrier. If you do not have one, we have lots of options available to purchase in store.
