Let’s talk about show ears and why I always recommend them for our Golden Retriever clients. While show ears have undeniable aesthetic appeal, they also offer significant health benefits. Trimming the hair around the ears reduces the risk of ear infections by allowing better airflow, keeping the ear area dry and less prone to irritation. Show ears also help prevent matting and tangling, which can cause discomfort. Overgrown ear hair can become a breeding ground for parasites like ticks and mites, leading to itching, discomfort, and potentially more serious skin conditions. Additionally, well-groomed ears not only enhance your dog’s natural beauty by accentuating their head shape but also contribute to their overall health and comfort.
