Eq’Ouest Stables is a growing equestrian farm in Dunrobin, Ontario, located just minutes outside of Ottawa. We are proud to develop, coach, and empower riders of all ages, abilities & creeds; we are committed to providing a wholesome and empowering farm experience to anyone who trains, coaches, boards, or visits here. ✅Camp Counsellor / Farm Hand
Status: Contract Full Time
Average Hours per week: 40
Contract: 10 weeks (Anticipated)
Expected Start-End Date: June 22, 2024 – August 31, 2024
Number of Positions: 2
Salary/Wage Range: $18
Duties include, but are not limited to:
➡️Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
➡️Plan and organize age-appropriate activities and programs
➡️Deliver activities with enthusiasm, creativity, and adaptability
➡️Supervise campers during various activities, including sports, arts and crafts, interacting with animals, and nature walks
➡️Be aware of and enforce the camp safety rules and emergency procedures
➡️Provide emotional support and guidance to campers, helping them navigate challenges and conflicts
➡️And any other general farm support activities as required
➡️This position required you to be cross trained and fill in for other positions as required, including as a farm hand.
Farm hand duties include, but are not limited to:
➡️Maintaining the grounds
➡️Maintaining the cleanliness of the animal enclosures
➡️Operate equipment such as tractors, lawn mowers, etc.
➡️Perform basic repairs on equipment
➡️Using hand tools
➡️Operating power tools such as chainsaws and w**d eaters
➡️Perform heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds
➡️And any other general farm support activities as required
⚠️Qualifications:
➡️A Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
➡️Experience working with children in a camp setting (asset)

Status: Contract Full Time

Contract: 10 weeks (Anticipated)
Expected Start-End Date: June 22, 2024 – August 31, 2024

➡️Act as the first point of contact for all camp inquiries
➡️Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
➡️Lead the planning and organization of age-appropriate activities and programs
➡️Deliver activities with enthusiasm, creativity, and adaptability
➡️Supervise campers during various activities, including sports, arts and crafts, interacting with animals, and nature walks
➡️Be aware of and enforce the camp safety rules and emergency procedures
➡️Provide emotional support and guidance to campers, helping them navigate challenges and conflicts
➡️And any other general farm support activities as required

Duties include, but are not limited to:
➡️Planning, organizing, and executing a beginner training program for riders and horses
➡️Coach/train children, youth, young adults, and adults with and without developmental disabilities to ride and engage safely with horses
➡️Develop safety program for new riders
➡️Provide meaningful educational experiences to visitors, riders and clients on farm activities, proper horse care, proper horse riding, barn/stable care, and working with horses. Enrich all student and clientele understanding and relationship between horses and riders
➡️Care for horses and other animals; including consulting on health and wellbeing of horses and reporting health concerns to management
➡️Develop and administer record keeping system for horse care and horse health records
➡️Appropriately and safely use and maintain riding equipment including tack, grooming tools/supplies, and saddling equipment
➡️Provide meaningful training to horses and be an advocate for horse health and wellbeing
➡️Inventory farm equipment and supplies
➡️Other general farm support activities as required
➡️This position required you to be cross trained and fill in for other positions as required
⚠️Qualifications:
➡️A Valid Standard First Aid CPR-C
➡️A Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
➡️Bilingual French/English (asset)
➡️Equestrian Canada Licensed or Registered Coach (asset)
✅Carpenter
Status: Contract Full Time
Average Hours per week: 30
Contract: 12 weeks (Anticipated)
Expected Start-End Date: April 22, 2024 – August 12, 2024
Number of Positions: 1
Salary/Wage Range: $19
Duties include, but are not limited to:
➡️Read and evaluate building plans to assist with and/or carry out independently the building of sheds, fences, and other wood structures.
➡️Safely use hand tools, including hammers, chisels, hand saws, screwdrivers, measuring tapes and levelling devices etc.
➡️Safely use power tools, including electric/battery drills, power saws, routers, sanders, planners, laser levelling devices, pneumatic and compression tools
➡️Maintain a tidy workspace and keep work area clear of unnecessary clutter and debris
➡️Collect and assemble building supplies, carrying out inventory counts as necessary
➡️Maintain current wood structures; including painting, finishing, sanding, and repairing
➡️Perform heavy lifting and carrying of 25kg
➡️And any other general farm support activities as required
⚠️Qualifications:
➡️A Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
➡️Mechanical knowledge of farm equipment
➡️Experience with hand tools and power tools
➡️Ability to operate equipment safely
➡️Perform heavy lifting and carrying of 25kg
➡️Ability to communicate in English or French
