Prunella was brought into care very late Sunday night. Slated to be euthanized at another hospital MTAF rescue had her surrendered so that wouldn’t happen 💗 Rescue in Ottawa is a network of individuals and organizations that help each other. @morethanafelineottawa reached out and we agreed to take on. A couple hours later she was transferred to our rescue and we picked her up and brought her to cap city for treatment. This girls bloodwork was all over the place and very dehydrated. Her feet were covered in green vomit. She was placed on IV fluids with supplementations to help correct her blood abnormalities and rehydrate her. Radiographs showed possible foreign object. After fluids she was starting to feel better and we are hopeful that this object is making its way through and hopefully out soon 🤞🏻 she has now been allowed to eat and is now happy as she’s visibly starting to feel better 💗 the veterinary team has been working very hard to help our sweet Pru and we are hopeful that she can avoid surgery. We also need YOUR help to save her. Her bill so far is $3,000 and we have nothing raised! If you would like to help towards her emergency life saving care we would be very grateful!! please consider sending your donations to [email protected], through PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/OttawaKittenRescueCA... https://www.canadahelps.org/.../cha.../ottawa-kitten-rescue/Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt by request (provide your full name, mailing address, and email).Together, let's continue saving lives, one paw at a time! As always we thank you

Noah is a very sweet boy who was surrendered to the vet by his owner due to a urinary obstruction. He was treated and discharged after a 5 day stay at Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital.
To reduce the likelihood of him obstructing again he will have to remain on a vet prescribed wet food diet.
FOSTER UPDATE: Noah has been settling in over the last week. He’s a very loving boy who loves to play with spring toys and get lots of pets and love.
We thought you would like an update on the cat that we took into care last week.

Name: Freddie Mercury
Gender: Male (intact for now)
Breed: DSH
Est. DOB: unknown
Good with cats: untested, but very likely. Will confirm when he's out of quarantine.
Good with kids: yes!
Good with dogs: unknown
Litter trained: yes
FOSTER UPDATE: This sweet, gentle boy was found outside, freezing and injured. He was taken to the vet right away, given antibiotics, drops for his corneal ulcer, drops for his ear infection, and moved into his foster home. There's not an inch on this poor baby that isn't a scar, scratch, puncture wound or a peeling scab. He can't tell us his story, but we know it's not a happy one.
Named Freddie for having an impressive range. He cried incessantly for the first 2 nights but calmer now.
He's only been with us for 6 days, and it's already clear he's the sweetest teddy bear. We're giving him eye drops x3/day and ear drops x2/day, and although he's not thrilled about it, he's never hissed, scratched or shown any sign of aggression. We even got all his nails clipped - no biting, just squirming. He already met 3 other adults and 2 kids, and was a perfect gentleman each time.
Every day I collect more and more scabs and chunks of hair, as his wounds are healing. He may still look rough, but give him a couple week - safety, love and care will do their magic.
If you would like to help towards Freddie's care please consider sending your donations to [email protected], through PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/OttawaKittenRescueCA... or https://www.canadahelps.org/.../cha.../ottawa-kitten-rescue/

DECEMBER 24th: We wish our entire OKR family all the best this holiday season. Without you our rescues would not be here today. THANKYOU.
When asked why we save cats. This is the reason. Happy endings.
Just squeaking in before we (try) and slow down for the year. Goose has been adopted.
He has been adopted by the amazing family, long time fosters of many cats and recent adopter of the first cat they could not say good-bye to. Rooster.
Thanks to the OKR community’s support two cats saved from euthanasia are now living their best life together. We are told these cats are just perfect for each other. “Goose is so chill he is the perfect match for Rooster’s quirks and energy”
December 23rd: FINN is one lucky cat. Rescued from euthanasia he was a first time foster for people who wanted to help. This cat worked his tabby magic. First to cave in Mom, then Dad. Slowly but surely Finn worked his way into best buddy status with the resident cat. Of course they could not let him go. The best gift for all. A forever home for Finn and a buddy for Schrodie.
December 22nd , Merry and Pippin, (fka Almond and Hazelnut, of the Nutty Family) worked their kitten magic and we were told by their adopter ‘they have absolutely melted our hearts! We love our new family members so much!
December 21st: Janice. (Friends Family) It makes us so happy when we get updates from adopters and honoured when they turn to us to grow their feline family. Janice joined two OKR alumni and In the words of her adopter “She is an absolute joy and such a little sweetheart”
December 20th. PEACHES (the Ice Age Family). Her parents were patient and understanding with Peaches working with her at her own pace. From a scared, protective little fiery fuzzball of anger, she slowly transitioned to a soft-bellied, pink-nosed, biscuit making, attention seeking baby.
December 19th: Gertie (fka Perla) Gus and Elliot. A xmas story: Gus and Gertie, adopted in 2021 were happy and content but grew worried earlier this year when their human kept disappearing. He was cheating on them!! A great cat dad, he was helping out OKR, driving Elliot, a cat rescued from euthanasia, to his vet appointments. Wouldn’t you know it one day Elliot came to stay with them forever and now they are one big lap sharing happy family.
This stunning little cat seems popular but we have not received the right application yet. She should have a feline friend and be strictly indoors.
**AVAILABLE**
Name: MASH POTATO🩷
Gender: Female
Breed: DSH
DOB: May 24, 2024
Good with Cats: Unknown but likely
Good with Kids: Likely
Good with Dogs: Unknown
Litter Trained: Yes
This little beauty was living outside and brought to us by a kind neighbour worried that she would not survive the winter.
FOSTER UPDATE:
Mash had a quiet few weeks after her spay. She sported her onesie like a champ and continued to strut like a star on the runway. It did not slow her down too much and even developed a new trick of chasing her tail. Too fast to catch on video. She appreciates the Christmas decorations, gazing at the tree berries and shiny bulbs- yes there is an occasional nibble. She keeps getting more and more cuddly, curling onto your side like velcro. Better come and get her before we can't pull her off.
She had no issues with other cats she has met. We believe she will need a playmate.
She is fully vaccinated and spayed so ready whenever her people find her.
If you would like more details, meet her over Zoom and chat with her foster just fill out our adoption application.

December 18th: Nala (fka Monica of the Friends Family) was adopted by her forever family as a friend for their lonely feline. When not playing she is loved and snuggled by her young humans and doted on by the whole family. Last year kitten Nala climbed the xmas tree. Will she do the same this year?
