This is why I am on a mission to honour horses as high spiritual beings, whether in movies ( www.AponaHealing.com/movies), in books (www.AponaHealing.com/books), through equine therapy and retreats ( www.AponaHealing.com/ranch/healing-retreats ) or through horse rescue ( www.AponaHealing.com/ranch/tributes) .
Humanity has evolved to recognize The Divinity of Horses.
Let's work together to end the Medieval Mindset of torture and death and once again, Unite Humans and Horses In Love www.AponaHealing.com/ranch/divinityofhorses
HEAL Yourself. LOVE A Horse. CREATE Peace.
She was asked to give everything—on the racetrack, in the breeding shed, in the sales ring she was auctioned off three times before she was even two years old. She generated millions in economic impact. And yet, when she stood in America’s slaughter pipeline, desperate for help, not a single one of her past connections stepped up. Repeated, respectful asks for assistance and accountability were met with silence.
How do people live with themselves, knowing that organizations like Unbridled and other rescues are left to fundraise just to save the very horses they discarded? How do they justify breeding, racing, and profiting from these sentient beings while refusing to take responsibility for them for the whole of their natural lives?
What kind of people stand smiling in the Winner's Circle while the carnage left in their wake suffer in Kill Pens? And turn a blind eye to rescues and advocates who scramble to clean up the mess they created and fundraise to feed their forgotten, battered, and broken athletes and barren broodmares?
"A truly ethical industry would mandate lifelong responsibility for every horse bred, ensuring that none end up in kill pens. Until that happens, every breeder, owner, and trainer who refuses to take responsibility is complicit in the suffering of horses like Miss Libby. And until that happens, this isn’t sport. It’s exploitation." ~ Kayne Founder Unbridled Sanctuary
The irony is staggering. Michael McMahon, the head of Thoroughbred Charities of America, an organization supposedly dedicated to aftercare, was directly involved in bringing Miss Libby into the world—only for her to end up in the slaughter pipeline with no help from him.
How can someone who claims to support thoroughbred aftercare turn away when one of his own horses needed help? How can he advocate for charitable efforts while being part of the very system that creates the need for those charities in the first place? This isn’t just hypocrisy—it’s a clear example of how the industry protects its image while failing the very horses it claims to care about.
If Thoroughbred Charities of America truly stands for aftercare, then its leadership should lead by example. That means stepping up for every horse they breed, not just the ones it’s convenient to help. Otherwise, it’s not charity—it’s just damage control.
