This is Lucy and she’s looking for a new home! She’s a 1 year old spayed beagle mix (BC, shepherd, boxer) and weighs around 30lbs.
Lucy is small but powerful, with great food drive and toy drive! Her current owner has done roller blading with her and I think she would be a good dog for any joring sports! She is very athletic and I think would do well in just about any sport or as an active family pet.
Located in Ottawa, ON - She has gone through training and is a well behaved girl! However she is unpredictable with her current owner’s children and therefore needs to go to a new home.
The good:
- crate trained
- no separation anxiety
- muzzle trained
- e collar trained and great recall
- great obedience
- super smart
- extremely affectionate and cuddle bug
- great with other dogs
- neutral to friendly with people
The bad:
- occasional submissive peeing (has lessened significantly since spay, rarely now)
- resource guarding (more info below)
- superficial bite history (no punctures just scratches)
- Cannot be in a home with young children, older (13+) dog savvy children are a possibility
- unsure how she would be with cats/ small animals but I haven’t seen anything that would scream high prey drive
Lucy has had issues in her home with resource guarding her crate and occasionally food. I have kept her for weeks and never seen these issues, but the owners continue to have them in their home. She has never shown guarding to other dogs, only certain people in her home. She may have barking ‘explosions’ in her crate but is easily interrupted and calms down quickly. Again, I have never experienced these issues when she has been in my home.
Lucy would thrive in a child-free, dog savvy home who could work on and manage her issues. PM for more information!
