Travelling with your pet this winter season? Be sure to never leave them alone in a vehicle as it can lead to them developing hypothermia. Temperatures can quickly become freezing in your car as they hold in the cold – picture them like giant freezers on wheels when they are parked and turned off.

✨Senior Pet of the Week✨

This is Scrat, one of our beloved staff pets. She’s an impressive 17 years old—hard to believe, we know! Thanks to her routine checkups and regular lab work, we were able to detect her kidney disease in its early stages. Scrat is now on a special diet and closely monitored by our clinic to help ensure she enjoys a longer, happier, and pain-free life.

When does my pet become senior? The short answer is it really depends.

Cats are generally considered senior after 10 years of age. Dogs on the other hand don’t have a “universal age of seniority” because their breeds differ so much in size. Dogs are believed by experts to have reached their senior status when they reach the last 25 percent of their breeds lifespan. Take a look at this helpful data from the American Kennel Club.

Why are bloodwork and diagnostics important for my pet?

Because bad breath shouldn’t be your pet’s signature scent! 😅
Did you know dental disease is one of the most common (and most easily preventable!) issues we see in pets? A professional cleaning can keep their teeth/gums healthy and their kisses a lot more pleasant!🦷🪥

When ingested, saponins can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and excessive drooling. The severity of your pet’s reaction depends on the amount ingested, so it’s best to visit your veterinarian or closest emergency veterinarian hospital if you notice any of these signs.
