*Changes for 2025*

I apologize in advance for the long post, but I want to elaborate on the reasons for these changes.

1. Front lobby pick ups and drop offs.

The bnb is not only my home, but also my pets. Over the past two years I’ve neglected to consider their thoughts and feelings about the constant buzzer of the front door as well as the ins and outs of people. It might not seem like much, but sometimes there are 2-3 families coming in per day that are coming in and out, disturbing my pets but also my neighbours (thank you apartment living). Unfortunately my living situation will not be changing anytime soon, so I’ve decided going forward all guests will be dropped off at the lobby.

I will then take them plus their supplies upstairs and set theim up and send photos right away. I’ve been implementing this for the month of January and it’s worked well, and my pets are much more at ease. Not to mention this keeps the bnb and my floors cleaner, which saves me time, energy and the cost of extra cleaning supplies allowing me to keep the cost of boarding low.

2. On pickup days, any pick ups after 2pm will be required to pay the daily rate for that day.

While I used to only count the nights the bunny “sleeps over”, this has resulted in a few days where I’m literally working for free as I’m caring for the bunny until 6, 7, 8pm or later. This should impact few clients, as I have a lot who prefer to pick up in the morning after a good nights rest from vacation. For those that it does impact I hope you will accept this change.

3. Blankets or floor coverings for your pet are now required to be brought by you (if they are needed).

Over the past two years I’ve completely been drowning in pet laundry from both the bnb and my rescue efforts and my own rabbits. In order to keep costs low in the bnb and make cleaning quicker, more effective and safer for guests we now have vinyl floors in the bnb. Most rabbits will be absolutely fine with this, however if you have a rabbit who believes the floor is lava, please bring some blankets or floor coverings for their comfort. We will continue to provide some hides and enrichment options, but as always you’re welcome to bring any of their comets from home! We will still be keeping a small stock of blankets in the event of forgotten blankets.

4. Finally, the statement I never wanted to make. I’ve always wanted to keep costs for bnb stays affordable for all, however the increased cost of rent, hydro, business insurance, fuel, vehicle maintenance and even extra supplies as clients sometimes forget things (and that’s totally ok) has lead me to make some changes to my pricing.

Since the bnb opened I had one small price increase; most clients however still benefit from the original rates as I felt I needed to reward loyalty. Starting March 15th bookings and beyond, I will be having new pricing on single rabbits, bonded pairs, Guinea pigs, and mobile nail trim services. Prices will be available on our website shortly. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read over my post. I’m also going to make a few changes to our waiver, etc. It will all fall into place.

I hope these changes are welcomed by the rabbit community as I’ve thought long and hard about how to maintain my business in a way that it works for me and my pets. 🐰💜

I am still open, caring for the bunnies currently in the bnb.

I DO require a break and need to step back a bit from things. In the meantime, I will come up with a new plan on how I move forward with Chez Atlas.

This business is my heart & soul, and it is incredibly important to both myself and the rabbit community. I need to rest for the time being and do what is best for me and my fur family.

Changes will follow - and no I’m not fully certain what that will look like going forward. For now my bookings remain closed and I’ve paused mobile grooming activities.

Thank you to everyone who sent messages of thanks, encouragement and support. It’s not easy navigating such a huge life change as an individual, but I know I can do it.

Unfortunately, due to a personal matter we will be closed for the foreseeable future. Something has come up and until we can continue to navigate this challenge we cannot do any grooming or take on new clients. We are currently honouring bnb bookings and keeping the rabbits in our care, however we unfortunately cannot promise that won’t change as time goes on if we feel we need a more permanent break.

We are eternally grateful for the entire rabbit community and all of our clients.

I need a bit more extra time this year - so I’m pausing mobile grooming appts for December and January. I’ve reached out to 1 or 2 appointments that have already inquired, and will honour those.

I will still be open for nail trims at my home - $10 per bunny.

Happy 10th Birthday to Atlas himself!! 🥳🩵

He is my first bunny, and the bunny who changed my life.

Here is just a small amount of my favourite pictures of Atlas over the years (there’s even some of baby Atlas 🙈).

Atlas was born at someone’s home November 9th 2014 and brought to the Ottawa Humane Society where I adopted him on January 13th 2015. He’s been my best pal ever since. The one I learned so so much about rabbits with, and who is still teaching me things. He was a solo bunny for 3 years until I got Chewie, and it took me 3 more years to fully bond them together. Now they are virtually inseparable.
