We are excited to announce/welcome the newest member to the Black Dog K9 team Sarah! 👏🏼

Sarah always had dogs growing up living with her family. When she got her first dog of her own, Hank, a male German Shepherd, she realized how much she loves training. Through reactivity, obedience, breed fulfillment, and more, Hank helped introduce Sarah to it all!

Sarah worked as a pet care provider for a professional pet care company in Ottawa for 4 years. This is where her interest in dog training grew. In 2021, she was hired on as an apprentice trainer for a company in Ottawa. This is where she expanded her knowledge on theory, improved her dog handling skills, and worked with many different training/behaviour cases.

She continues to expand her knowledge by attended seminars, group classes, private lessons and online learning!

Sarah’s goal is to learn and experience as much as she can about pet care and dog training. Her goal is to continue to grow as a trainer and handler. With the plans to add another dog to her family in the future with the goals of training and competing in multiple dog sports venues across Canada and the USA.

She is passionate about teaching people how to live happily with their dogs through clear and fair communication. She believes that any relationship can be improved by learning how to listen and communicate effectively.

Sarah is located in Arnprior and currently is offering boarding services, and private lessons in Arnprior and surrounding areas!

Everyone meet Grizzly 🐻

This big bear was surrendered to Black Dog K9 this morning by his owners! So far he’s extremely soical with people, and neutral to passing dogs on the road/trails!

We’re excited to spend the next few weeks getting to know him, evaluating him, doing some obedience training and then finding him his perfect home!!

Everyone welcome Millie to our board and train program! ❤️

Millie’s family enrolled her in our four week board and train program to help work on her emotions around people/dogs, to obtain full off leash reliability, and to work on her behaviours when friends and family enter the home!

You may or may not remember Mr Cheese .. one out of two mal puppies we rescued and helped find forever homes a few months ago.

This past weekend I got to see Mr Cheese (now Ruckus) with his new owner at our Cassandra St Pierre obedience work shop.

I am over the moon with this placement. His owner is everything you dream of and more when placing a dog… especially a Malinois. I can’t wait to see the exciting things these two do together 💕

HUGE congratulations to our trainer Sophie .blackdogk9 for completing the PSA decoy certification this weekend in North Carolina!

Though she didn’t come home with the certification this girl made us and herself so proud. She’s only been decoying since December and only started prepping for the Cert LESS than two months ago 🔥

TONS of amazing compliments from the senior decoys on her safe catches and great technique.

Excited to see her try again and bring home the certification ❤️

We got Girly (formally cheese) on Tuesday and we’re working on conditioning her to her new name AND teaching the recall at the same time.

Off leash freedom is something we LOVE to teach to all our clients and personal dogs. The physical and mental stimulation that off leash freedom allows is unmatched!

Black Dog K9 Performance is proud to announce a fabulous new addition to our training programs!

Alot of our clients are well aware of our kick butt board and train programs, but let’s face it, sending our dogs away for training can be stressful and less than ideal for many of our clients.

This is why we have decided to introduced our Train/No Board program. So you no longer have to say goodbye to your furry friends.

2-3 week programs are currently available.

Our trainers will come to your home, pick up your dog and take them for a 1.5-2.5 hour outting where they will address problem behaviours and learn solid obedience skills 5x per week.

After programs are completed owners will attend TWO 1hr sessions where they will get hands-on training to help upkeep their dogs abilities and continue harnessing their skills!

Availability is LIMITED!!

2 week program - $1400.00 plus taxes
3 week program - $2100.00 plus taxes

Huge thank you to St Michaels High School for having the Black Dog K9 team out to show some of your students what being a dog trainer is all about.
