Stepping into the Meadow 🥀
Ahhhh! Let us squish your adorable faces!! These two lovely creatures came for a little summer vacation last week, and we're happy to report that we returned them to their owner, unsquished.
A big floofy collision at rush hour!
Have a great weekend everyone, and drive safe.
This little boarder is an adventurous Schipperke / Pomeranian mix. The forest floor is lava!!
One of our regular daycare pups, Sashka, is so lucky to go on awesome kayak rides! Her owner, Chris, sent us this pic of them out on the Rideau River, and the platform he built her is the best! We had to share :D
Just wanted to advise our customers that there is quite an ongoing traffic snarl down the road just to to our East. Piperville and Boundary roads are being resurfaced, and may derail your precisely planned drop-offs and pick-ups.
*MAY 31 UPDATE*
The pond will remain open this weekend for swimming, but we've had to shut off the pump for the waterfall and stream while we work on some liner leaks along the stream bed. Its a very attractive feature, and we'll work hard to get it operational again.
Again, the pond remains open and ready for your doggos!
Oh baby, bases are loaded and look who's stepping up to the plate. Let's goooo!
Well, we're a little late this year, but after a number of hiccups and setbacks (both natural and mechanical), we have opened the pond and stream. Swimming season is upon us!
Tell your dogs the great news, create an account if you haven't already, and book "The Habitat" as your own personal dog park this summer. Woooo!!

The big news in Ottawa is this crazy storm that passed over early this evening. The warnings were out that it contained a large amount of lightning was pushing damaging winds, and we acted to get all dogs and staff indoors with plenty of time to spare. We also had a customer run inside with us, as she was unluckily dropping off her dog right as the cloud approached.

*Declassified*
We deployed a Smooth Collie today in order to intercept an unknown threat, which was then identified and neutralized with a textbook flanking maneuver. The erratically bouncing orange ball is no longer a concern. Have a great long weekend, everyone!
Awww look at these two peas in a pod. This pair have been coming to board with us for years. Looks like they are happy to be back for a little spring vacay!
Congratulations to Reed and Chloe, and a big HOORAY for Lexi!
Lexi has gone to her new forever home, and we're so thankful to these lovely people for making multiple trips from Montreal to Keshet, just to meet and bond with this sweet girl, and solidify that we had a match. Lexi is 11.5 years old, and we know this means so much to her
"Hi little lady, your eyes are beautiful! You have what's known as heterochromia. Your genetic makeup has dictated that one of your eyes lacks the melanin that makes your other eye brown. It has no ill-effect on your health or vision. This is a benign trait that.....whats that? I should shut up and throw the *% #@% ball?"
Ohhhh yeahhhhh, nothing better than a Friday afternoon scratch, eh boy?
This is one of our regular daycare boys, with his wonderful healthy coat and his captivating eyes and his boopable snout and his flippity-flappity tongue 🥰
"Wanna play Gazelle?"
"How do you play?"
"It's so fun, just follow meee!"
As the famous saying goes, "A toy is the window of the eyes to the window of the soul", or something...Where's the Mastiff from Tibet when you need him?
Picture this. You are a dog at the park, and you spot the Mastiff from Tibet; widely regarded in canine lore to be the wisest of all dogs. You run to get a spot in the quickly-forming line, what is the one question of life you ask?
We might ask, "Oh wise one, why is it that my human treats my poo as a collector's item when I place it in the grass, but a burden when I place it on the rug?"
A Siberian Husky, looking like an Arctic Wolf stalking some Caribou. He's trying to sneak his way onto Discovery Channel 😂
*this guy is a boarder, not for adoption
Home stretch to the weekend! Have a good one, everybody.
Our photos will start greening up real soon, but we couldn't let this one from last week go un-shared. She's a lovely Border Collie who came to board with us for a bit, and one of the lucky ones to experience 2 seasons in one stay!
This cutie, a boarder, is looking back to see when the last time we posted a snowy feature photo was!
Introducing Indy!! He's an energetic 3 year old who is excited for in-person introductions as he starts his search for his forever home.
You can read all about Indy and owner suitability at the link below. If you feel you are a match, start the process by downloading an adoption application from the right sidebar.

On any given day, we have an average of ~40 dogs staying with us for daycare and boarding, so it's no surprise that we see quite a variety of breeds and mixes! Here's just a small sample of the beauties we had the pleasure of meeting and caring for this fall.
*Storm Update #2* Yesterday we posted about how Saturday's storm affected us, with the most important point being that nobody was hurt. All humans and canines came out unscathed, thanks to the staff's quick reaction to get every soul into shelter ahead of the rare derecho event. As you can see in this slideshow, we've had a number of helpers, big and small, helping with clean-up. But still, the multitude of followers who have reached out since yesterday's post has been huge! We thank each and every one of you for your offers of helping hands, supplies, and funds. As we work with various entities to assess the extent of damage, we will politely decline donations at this time. We will gratefully open the gates to anyone who would kindly assist in this phase of cleanup, though! Tasks such as piling branches, raking twigs, and cutting logs are on the agenda. Aside from your hands and kind hearts, we would suggest you bring: -Water for yourself. -Bug spray and sunscreen. -Work gloves. -Additional chainsaws and rakes. 9am - 4pm any day of the week is when we could welcome volunteers, and we ask that you call or text 613 850 6212 if you plan on dropping by. Love, Keshet Kennels & Rescue

We have to backpedal a bit! Spring agility course update: In light of the recent stay at home order, and to err on the side of caution, the start date of the agility course has been postponed until Wednesday, June 2. Emails have been sent to anyone who has already signed up, and there are still spots available. You can get more info on our events page: https://www.keshetkennels.com/events-board/ Or, go directly to https://keshetkennels.propetware.com/ to register.
We were TRYING to make a little video in advance of Mother's Day, by having a dog sniffing a tulip. We chose George. Why did we choose George?! Music by https://www.bensound.com/
