🎉 It’s ! Join us this week as we celebrate the human stories at the heart of our work—stories of resilience, hope, and transformation. Today, we begin with Ruth.

🗣 "Everything starts with the cows. They’re how I feed my family, send my kids to school, and dream of a better future." ~ Ruth Wakariti

In Nyeri County, , Ruth begins her day before dawn. By sunrise, she’s already milked her cows, sent her kids off to school, and started tending her crops. Life hasn’t always been easy, but with training from our volunteers and partners, Ruth transformed her farm into a lifeline for her family—improving milk production, reducing costs, and becoming a leader in her community.

Across Africa and Asia, farmers like Ruth are creating brighter futures through sustainable farming with support from VWB’s VETS program.

🚐✨🇺🇸 The VWB team recently traveled to stunning Alaska for a remote veterinary clinic with the Hub Outpost Project from Colorado State University!

📍 In Saint Mary’s, a remote Alaskan community, we worked the Hub Outpost team to provide spay/neuter surgeries for 18 dogs while also connecting with local community members. This visit was about more than veterinary care—the team also had a chance to build relationships and learn more about the unique needs of the community. 🐾

Lack of access to veterinary care is a challenge faced by many remote communities across the North, including Alaska and northern Canada. Together with our partners, VWB is committed to expanding our reach to ensure dogs, cats, and more receive the essential care they need to remain healthy. This will also help protect community health by preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases like rabies. 🩺🌍

A huge thank you to our colleagues and community members who shared their expertise and experiences with us during this recent visit!
