Another trial, another summer, another year gone by already!! With a bit of sadness, and a lot of teamwork and fun times, (and a whole lot of looking forward to a winter break!) we had our last ratting trial of 2024 this past weekend.
We couldn't have had better weather if we had ordered it special! The Soulstorm team had a fantastic day with our trialing friends!

Huge shout out to Sonja who came to help all day, without even taking time to run a dog herself, who put up with all my shenanigans over the summer with changing templates, new software, adding a laptop, and for funsies making her print things now.. she always accepts the new challenges with a smile.

Great big thanks to our judge Lauren for leading us through a summer of fun and challenging hides, good humour, and good times, and for showing up even while feeling under the weather this weekend!

As always, we would never be able to host trials without our great volunteers, THANK YOU for showing up and stepping up when you are needed. It would be impossible to get through a trial day without your help.

Last but not least, thank you to Millennium Dog Sports for being our gracious hosts for the summer!

Congrats to all who came and had fun with us this year, we hope to see all your smiling faces and wagging tails again in 2025!!

The trials last weekend were another smashing success! Despite the never ending rain, there were lots of smiling faces and happy dogs with pretty ribbons!
Thanks to all who came to play with us, and as always to Lauren Taylor and Sonja Taylor without whom trials would grind to a halt! We also want to thank our tireless volunteers who make the day happen as well, none of this would be possible without you!!

Congrats to Dian McTaggart and kekanovich who won the ribbon and volunteer raffles!

Another fantastic trial down last weekend. As always, none of it would have been possible without our fabulous judge Lauren Taylor and volunteer extraordinare Sonja Taylor . Special thanks to Chantelle and Eric for helping with set up in the morning so I didn't have to set up in the rain!

***CHANGES IN REGISTRATION FOR SEPTEMBER 7TH TRIAL***

Please note that RATS! Canada has been working with DogShow.ca in order to create a trial management system through their web site. This is something that will allow registrants to register for trials quickly once they have created an account and the site will allow trial hosts to manage their entire event (run orders, score sheets, reports) through this new system.

As this is a brand new system, Soulstorm Dog Sports will be using the Dogshow.ca website to take entries for the September 7, 2024 trials. This will be the first live use and testing of the system before it goes live for all of Canada.

Soulstorm Dog Sports does not have the intention at this time to change our regular method of entry (jotform/paypal) permanently, however it is always a possibility down the road, and you may see other trial hosts using the system as soon as this fall.

Registration for September 7th trials will open on August 7th. In order to be ready to register for these trials, please go to the DogShow.ca web site and create an account if you do not already have one. Then create a profile for each competing dog (My account > Add a new dog) using "RATS! Canada" as the registering body. At this time it is necessary to have a profile for each sport association with which the dog plays in DogShow.ca web site. For example if your dog is already listed on DogShow.ca and you have registered for CKC events in the past, you MUST create a new profile with RATS! Canada as the registering body instead of CKC. The CKC profile will only allow you to register the dog for CKC events, not for RATS! Canada events.

I fully appreciate that this is additional work that everyone must do in order to register for this trial. As such, the cost of runs for these trials will be reduced to $25 per run, + 10% admin fee from DogShow.ca, for a total of ~$27.80 per run. This will be a one time fee reduction in order to offset the admin fee as well as to encourage people to help in testing this new system for the rest of the country.

Thanks to everyone who came out to play this weekend. We were lucky all things considered that the weather held out during the day!

Congratulations to Tracy Kolman and Shannon McCooeye for winning the draw for a free run from our OKC trials.

What a weekend we had at the Ottawa Kennel Club dog show!! Thanks to everyone who came out to play!!
We hosted 4 RATS! Canada dog trials and had a great time! Thank you as always to our judge Lauren Taylor, as well as our secretary and do-all-the-jobs Sonja Taylor, without whom none of this would be possible.
A huge shout out goes out to our surprise volunteers who stepped up to the plate when they found out we needed them🥰
Last but not least thank you to Lynn Benson and the OKC show committee for having us at the show! We'll be back, bigger and better!

As for the dogs, Phoenix and Poe played in the Rats! Canada trials and each scored a best in class ribbon.
Bacon was a chonky superstar and got both his instinct and novice Barn Ratting titles (we are playing FEO for brush).
Hazel was busy strutting her stuff and kicking her brothers butt in the show ring taking best baby puppy in breed on Sat and Sun!!
Now we sleep!! 😴😴😴
