How did everyone fare after the remnants of hurricane Beryl?

With 3 inches of rain in 24 hours, we're seeing some crop losses but nothing too widespread just yet. It can take time to reveal the full impact of heavy rains on crops.

The extreme weather events brought on by climate change is affecting all of us. Farmers, eaters, urban, rural, at home and around the world.

✨ Tunnel Day! ✨ We put up two caterpillar tunnels yesterday for our plant babies. And today, we're transplanting tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants under the warm and dry cover. These tunnels offer low-cost season extension to get tasty Mediterranean crops onto plates for more weeks in the year. Shout out to Multishelter Solutions for making these sweet Hanley caterpillar tunnels. We love their simple design and easy installation. 🔨

Seedlings are thriving in our cozy greenhouse. Kate carefully tends to the plants with daily watering, opening and closing the roll up sides to give them an ideal temperature, and weekly furnace cleaning for hot nights.

We'll be planting in a few shorts weeks and harvesting for our first CSA box on July 2nd.

If you live in Kanata or near our farm, do yourself a favour and secure a share of the harvest with a summer and fall CSA box! Feel good about locking in the freshest and highest quality produce for 4 to 6 months.

Holy kale! That's a BIG impact for a little farm like ours. Your CSA sign-ups and accessibility fund donations make a difference.

Where did all those veggies go?

$310 was allocated to one family for a summer, bi-weekly CSA share. It was the only request made to our accessibility fund in 2023.

$4,659 in fresh, high-quality vegetables were donated to the South Grenville Food Bank; serving the community around our farm. This food bank is run by a small team with a BIG heart, feeding families across a vast area. A special shoutout to their warehouse manager, who made the trek out to the farm every Thursday to pick up donations.

We dream of a future where everyone has the means to access fresh, nutritious food, eliminating the need for food banks altogether. Until then, we're committed to growing our impact even further.
