We have more information for the upcoming Franktown Road closure from July 29 for approximately 2 weeks. Please have a look at the link below as detours will be in place.
Beckwith Township residents are being informed about an upcoming road closure on Franktown Road by the City of...
The road closure as we understand it will be just 100ft or so on the east side of our driveway.
The City of Ottawa wishes to advise Beckwith Township residents of an upcoming culvert replacement under Franktown Road between Dwyer Hill Road and Ashton Station Road.
Replacement of this culvert will require a temporary road closure of Franktown Road for a duration of approximately 2 weeks in late July – early August. The contractor expects the closure to occur between July 29th and August 9th, 2024.
As Franktown Road is a major commuting route for residents of Beckwith Township, the City of Ottawa has provided the Notice attached to share with residents so that they may prepare for the closure. A detour route will be implemented and will redirect traffic to Purdy Rd.

We hope this post finds you and your furry loved ones safe and well. A close (furry) friend of our own, Baloo, and his human, Oleh, are currently in need of help. Baloo desperately requires surgery within the next three weeks.

Last Saturday our Grand-dog Brodie, all 3 lbs of her had taken what we think was a severe seizure that led to a stroke. When she was found her tongue was blue and her body contorted, she didn't seem to be breathing at the time. Lucky for everyone Josh (Dixie's boyfriend) was there to start CPR. They rushed her to the vet in Brockville where the prognosis was not good, when she arrived she was unresponsive but breathing. Euthanasia was considered, but Dixie thought no lets wait for a few hours to play it out. It was decided that Brodie would go to Alta Vista Vet Hospital for overnight care to help decide what her fate would be. By the time she left Brockville she was responsive to Dixie's voice and could turn her head but otherwise paralyzed. She spent the next two days in ICU at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital. Every hour she got a little stronger. She began to eat and drink on her own. She still had no use of any of her legs though. This last Tuesday Dixie sent me a video clip of Brodie starting to stand on her own while she was eating (with a little help of course). She was making progress, fantastic progress!! Today she sent me these videos, it brought tears to my eyes. This little 3 lbs of joy has so much fight in her when all the odds were against her. I just hope that when I come up against such odds that I can have half the fight in me as she does. She truly is a remarkable being, one that I am very proud to have as my Grand- dog! Love you Brodie so much!!
This past weekend we got to babysit my brother and his wife's furry baby for the first time now that they have moved here from out west. Myles hadn't packed enough wet food for the wee old man. So Darby asked us to post this ...
