Sasha rocked her graduation lesson today! Just walking next to my Roscoe boy like no big deal. You wouldn't even know she struggled with very severe reactivity when we started.
On the other side of me is 7 month old Lazlo walking calmly, instead of pulling and jumping obsessively to play with Roscoe like a love everybody, happy, young lab would rather do, lol.
Great job Sasha and good boy Lazlo!! πΎβ€οΈ
Everybody absolutely loves those loose leashes! πβπ¦Ίβ€οΈπΎ
There are so many mistakes people make trying to teach dogs to walk nicely! Some questions to ask yourself if you're struggling:
πΎ Have you taught a clear understanding between when you want your dog to be walking and when they get to go smell and use the bathroom?
πΎ Does your dog truly understand that when they feel pressure on their collar, they should be the ones to move to remove that pressure? Or have you accidentally taught both you and your dog that you will actually remove any collar pressure when it happens by giving more leash or following?
πΎ Are you even still relevant to your dog when you're walking or are you just a weight on the end of the leash?
πΎ How often on your walks is your dog pulling or tight on the leash?
πΎ Do you enjoy your walks with your dog?
If you need help with your walk, let me know. Start enjoying those walks again (and help your dog enjoy them more too!) ππΎ
Bailey's owner has become such a great dog trainer through this journey of private training! πͺπ
Of course Bailey is a little Rockstar, too! πΎπ₯
I love working with families and having kids involved with their dogs!
My 2 year old has just started helping to feed our dogs! Our dogs are both great around their food otherwise I would not allow my children to help with this task.
It's so nice to have your children learn how to work with your dog's and help care for them when age appropriate. It not only builds responsibility within your children but also help everyone in the family have great relationships with your pets. Not to mention hearing a toddler tell your dog's "eat up", "come", "back" or "move" is adorable!!
Thanks for the help H, and great job Lexi and Roscoe! πΎβ€οΈ
Happy 10th birthday Lexi!
A very happy 10th birthday to our Lexi!! β€οΈ I've known this girl since she was 2 (when I met my husband) and he has had her since 8 weeks old. She is a total sweetheart with a little bit of sass. She lives for fetch and being close to her people. She loves her slow jogs with the bike and trying to sneak in a quick kiss to the face when you aren't paying attention. We just love our girl!
Happy 10th birthday Lexi! πππ
Cool down time after my dog's run with the bike this evening.
When you have a solid loose leash walk, you get the freedom to do so much more! I love doing bike runs with Roscoe and they are definitely his favorite too! This was our cool down at the end of his run this evening. πΎ
Water fun to escape the heat!
Did your dog's play in any water in the hot weather yesterday? Our pups got to play in the little kiddie pool after the kids were done.
Just for the record, the water was totally clean (and twice as full) about 3 minutes prior to this video lol. The dogs made quick work of splashing the water out and then running through a dirt patch and then right back to the pool π€¦ββοΈ. They sure did enjoy it though!! πΎ
From barking at other dogs to a relaxed shopping trip with another dog!
This is a video of Lincoln at his graduation class this past week. In the comments you will see the video of him when we first met him.
Leash reactivity (barking while on leash at other dogs, people or cars etc) is so common and so many people struggle with it but you don't have to!
Lincoln came so far with not only his leash reactivity but also so many other things! Great job Raquel and good boy Lincoln! πΎ
First Group Training Walk went fantastic!
We had such beautiful weather for our first group, training walk yesterday evening! Most of these dogs have dealt with some level of reactivity at some point or another in the past and they all did fantastic!
It was so great to see some pups and people I haven't seen for a few years! We worked on walking manners, passing by other dogs, being passed by other dogs and obedience too.
Looking forward to our next one! πΎ
Get your dog out (while practicing safe social distancing).
