Paradi update:
I’m hesitant to say she’s doing better because it’s been so unpredictable but… She has much more energy and spunk to her, and is standing now for the majority of the day.
I’ve never experienced a more confusing, and inconsistent last few weeks. I was guilty of saying ”oh I don’t see many ticks on the horses they should be ok” Lyme is hard on their body. She was sore for over 6 weeks before we actually pin pointed what it was. I thought she had an abscess. No swelling no heat, just not putting much weight on it. I gave it some time, soaked and it got almost better, so I figured great it’s surfacing. But then came back and she was 3 legged lame again. I debated calling the vet as I soak and poltice but not really getting better. Finally I call them. They come out and on the day miraculously she’s 90% sound.. great maybe it’s blown. She didn’t show anything on the hoof testers, the only thing that she reacted to was slight swelling near her hind right sesamoid. Ok let’s ice and treat it as a suspensory branch injury. The weird thing was it’s the opposite leg. Maybe overcompensating? A few days go by and then the worst of it all started. She’s 3 legged lame again. On the left hind leg again. The vet at this point must think I’m crazy. He’s like “oh wasn’t it the rightwe thought she was off on?” Yup… it was. She was in so much pain she was up and down laying down and completely uncomfortable. Is it pain related, or colic? It would pass and she woiuld seem a little more comfortable. At this point I’m back to soak and poultice again. It has to be close.. then she stopped eating, and o the vet is thinking this is getting odd. When he came out she hadn’t eaten In 24 hours, but is back up standing again, and putting weight on it. ( At this point whenever they come she becomes sound 🙄 and I seem crazy!) they send off the test for Lyme and it comes back positive. An IV catheter put in for it to only last the fir
We had an unfortunate ultrasound today. Below was Rayne’s 30 day ultrasound from the beautiful stallion Gorgeous Latino, with a strong heartbeat. Today we had a 60 day ultrasound but unfortunately found she was no longer in foal. With it getting later in the season we will try again next year. 😔
Trailer training😁 Time for Ella to be a big girl today.
First trip in the arena 🥰
